The porn industry is all about "NEW" and "FRESH" Guys see you, your awesome, then they see the next girl and now she's more awesome. Getting older doesn't help either. Control your own content and direct market yourself. I know this is a stretch comparison but as for making it on your own instead of with porn companies I think Prince (formally known as the Artist Formally Known As) is a great example. When Purple Rain was all said and done he had created A number one Album with hit after hit, A number one movie, and one of the highest grossing concert tours of the decade. 10 years later he released his worst selling album ever, but completely distributed it on his own through the internet, and had no tour, and no movie....and made MORE MONEY than ALL OF THE PURPLE RAIN movie/tour/album sales combined! Purple rain generated 80times the GROSS money, but he made more off of the Emancipation album. Crazy. Do the same for yourself, figure out how to produce your own work and find an avenue for distribution. BE the content owner.
