Popular Culture

.. in general but america specifically. I'm not contrarian for contrarian's sake but when it comes to things that appeal and are ultimately marketed to the majority (and the lowest common denominator) I just shake my head. I can come to no other conclusion than that the majority of people are fucking morons. And I should have no grounds to feel superior to anyone, but got damn, so many people are fucking stupid. I find myself in everyday interactions just having to clench my jaw and bite my tongue.

I think it's america. We're fat and fucking retarded.

Ya know, sometimes I feel this way too, then I tel myself it depends on what I'm looking at. If I'm watching tv or reading my Twitter comments, then yeah, the World seems like a really dumb place, like the movie Idiocracy is coming true. But if I head up to San Fran for the weekend, walking thru parks and museums, my faith in humanity is restored. It is really sad how much stuff is "dumbed down" these days though. Or the amount of grown human beings who can't spell, or form a sentence. Scary, even.

Modern day American pop culture is definitely a shining example of the old Roman saying: panem et circenses.

Bread and circuses (fast food and sports) is really all you need to keep that fat, dumb and happy center of the bell curve happy.

But sure, at the margin (if you're lucky), you do meet some fantastic people, who are intelligent, caring and thoughtful. But any more, it seems like their numbers are dwindling.

The recent "Kim Kardashian Mobile App" will certainly help the new generation become more leveled and normal. It may even have been government subsidized for this very purpose for the American populous. We will be back on track soon, thanks Kardashian's! Keep up the great work leading our young down the path of moral and and social integrity.

At a certain age you become enthralled in pop culture.

At a certain age after that, you grow to despise what pop culture has become.

After that age, you learn not to give a shit about pop culture entirely.

Absolutely true. When I hear some reference to something trending in pop culture I am quite likely to respond with "Who?" or "What?". At my age, I just don't give a shit so I pay as little attention as possible. From the looks of things, I ain't missing much. Rep headed your way....

The morons, the assholes, the absolute douches, and the blisteringly fucking stupid are the ones we always hear from. Smart people, wise people, humble people don't run their noise hole all the time, and the internet has just made it so easy for the classless, overly opinionated, shit-stirrers to be heard. There's still good out there, and there are still people who are smart, and have their shit together. They realize that arguing on the internet? Losing proposition.

I've said too much... :D
