First, I am very sorry for the death of the polish officials, so may they rip.
Second, you should understand that Poles and Russians barely like each other even if the USSR is not existing anymore. It is the same with Russians and Georgians, Russians and Ukrainians, Russian and Tadjiks. Russians don't like much of their neighbours, I am not lying to you. If you think that Putin is not that clever, you are wrong. He is a former member of the KGB and that means that everything is possible, expect the worse.
Yes Russia & Poland do not have the greatest of relationships (the president & his fellow passengers were on their way to an event to to mark the 70th anniversary of the Katyn massacre of WWII) but it is ludicrous to claim that this was some assassination plot. Where is your evidence. "Everything is possible"! What a load of nonsense in the truest sense of the word!
Wait a minute, they crashed into some trees. Who planted those trees I wonder? Damn Russian horticulturalists!

What would Russia gain from sabotaging the plane? Right after they invited the Polish to a memorial? The Poles are such a huge threat, after all. Christ.

Like i said, i'm a Pole and i'll wait wit opinion. President Kaczynski was a patriot, they had only 30 minutes to the beginning of anniversary. Why im talk about this? Some time ago, another pilot didn't agree wit president to land in Georgia(war) and they moved to Azerbaijan. After that, the pilot has been released.

Well, in a way, they did....when Tupolev designed and built the plane! The TU-154 has one of the poorest safety ratings of any commercial jetliner. Why the president of Poland picked a 50-year-old airplane with a terrible safety record to be his official means of air transport is beyond me. This is basically the Russian version of a Boeing 727. Currently, no American commercial airline flies the 727. It is old and obsolete and so is the TU-154.
The other baffling thing about this is....why did the pilot ignore ATC orders to not attempt a landing in dense fog? Crazy....suicidal in fact.
My deepest sympathies go out the the Polish people and their government. What a senseless tragedy.

Because they had 30 minutes before the ceremony was to begin. So they rushed, and as a result crashed in VFR conditions.
This sounds very close to the Ron Brown crash at Dubrovnik in '94 when his US Air Force 737-200 crashed in poor weather. They were behind schedule, the flight crew had never flown into that airport before and they rammed the side of a small mountain. All perished.
The same seemed to happen here in Smolensk.

Here's where I disagree to a point. I would appraise that the russian government has been a ''sleeper'' if you will, ever since the wall came crashing down. The russians have always been the resistant ''odd man out'' as far as accepting western world values, always have and always will.
The ussr lives on regardless of the bullshit propaganda that says otherwise.
All I'm suggesting is, it wouldn't surprise me to find out that sabotage played a part in this crash because .........

I don't care. There are some rules of flying that are inviolate and directions from ATC fall within that realm. If a controller tells you not to land, you don't attempt to land....period.
By the way, I'm sure it was just a slip of the keyboard but the conditions at landing in Smolensk were obviously anything but VFR....IFR well below minimums for sure. I'm sure that's what you meant and not trying to be a smart-ass....just pointing out the error.

People will always come up with conspiracy theories if they look for them, someone often benefits directly from these events so people assume those people/nations were responsible for the incident happening at all. Some of the US examples are:
*Was JFK assasinated by the CIA over the Bay Of Pigs incident or Cuban sources in retaliation for attempts on Castros life
*Was Marilyn Monroe murdered to stop here going public over her affair with Robert Kennedy
* Were the Oklahoma City bombing carried out by the government to frame the right militia movements or beef up anti-terror laws
* Were the moon landings faked by the Government to win a publicity and space race war with the Soviets and divert attention away from the unpopular Vietnam War
* Was 9/11 carried out by Israel but blamed on Muslims to get the USA on their side in the war against radical muslims or even by the US government as an excuse to invade Afghanistan
As long as someone seemingly benefits from an event (usually a government) there will always been conspiracy theories, whether true or not.

Ooops my bad yes I mean IFR.
Well someone onboard must've told the pilots to press on. From what I've heard the aircraft made 4 attempt to land in the fog.
At some point desperation sets in, after concentrating on instruments you look for any kind of visual cue. Each attempt the pressure to make a succesful landing grows knowing you could make the President and his entourage late.
