Plan for Gay Bar Next to 9/11 Mosque

I think it's a great idea. If they want to build a Mosque there, they are going to have to expect other lifestyle groups are going to be in the same neighborhood and community. Even if a gay bar is not built, there will be street performers, street preachers and other passerbys that their culture will not like or approve of, but will have to tolerate.

Uh..., does anyone here realize that there are already three gay bars located near ground zero? Which kinda defeats the whole point of this ridiculous thread.

^ Well said :hatsoff: ^

This is exactly what I was saying in the thread about opening the mosque... morons don't realize there are hundreds of mosques and surely hundreds of gay bars all over N.Y.C. Another case of politicians and punditry making something out of nothing

I have no hatred of anyone. Get to know me and you'll find I'm one of the most open and tolerant people you've ever met.

The reason I posted the questions is because many American's I see on the television, news and websites speak about not wanting Latino's or Middle Eastern ppl in this country.

I hate out "some" people lump all of a race into a category. That's all I'm saying.

no you brought up race jerk (and im not saying youre a jerk but that is stupid to bring a racial discussion into here). this is a thread about a islamic gay bar. thanks

Dude take a fucking stress pill!

perhaps but we (the u.s.) are not those countries nor should we use fucked up countries as our baseline for how we should act and as to a gay bar near the muslim tolerance center...words are not tolerance, the proof of tolerance can only be recognized when it's tested :D

I agree completely except when say you want to tell the gays where they can build their bars. If the rags have a right to build a mosque where they want, the gays have a right to build a bar where they want.

At the same time, when people come here from those countries, they should also give up the right to act like they did in their motherland. When they come to America, they should raise their standards to meet OURS. This includes the way they treat their women, the language they speak, and the amount of tolerance THEY have for our customs.

When in Rome, you do as the Romans do. Otherwise don't travel to Rome.

Yeah, right. And when Americans apply what you just said when they travel abroad, then you can complain. Mexico, Germany, France, Korea, I've seen Americans be their usual goofy, obnoxious selves in all these places and then get pissed when they so much as get a funny look. Turnabout is fair play.

I agree with you that, when Americans go abroad, they should respect the customs of the countries they visit. This still doesn't change the fact that people who come to America to live should get with the program too.

It's just common courtesy, and it applies to everyone - whether the concept existed in their home country or not.

well yeah the gay bar doesn't have to be there...but if the owners want it to be and do all they need to be there so be it

I hereby give this thread my seal of approval.
As long as its all in accordance with local laws and private property, let 'em build where they want.

A block away isn't "right next to".
Placing the bar where it can't be ignored when approaching and entering the mosque.

Excellent point. And I am sure you realize that the proposed community center (which includes a mosque) is planned to be located TWO blocks from ground zero, where it can be safely ignored by anyone visiting ground zero.

And BTW, why would anyone notice a gay bar even if it was located right across the street from the proposed community center? Do you actually think that half-naked gay men will be hanging out the windows of the bar or something?

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
I think they should put a BBQ joint on the other side. Nothing like the delicious fragrance of roasting pig, to get your mouth watering. If it were my place, I would call it, "The Saucy Infidel"...which coincidentally, would be a pretty good name for the gay bar.

Why save the world, when you can rule it?
Why not let it be built? Things must be tough for homosexual Moslems; their religion forbids homosexuality and even between a man and his wife, anal sex and cumming in her mouth are forbidden because they are not considered clean or haram.

Hmmmm TWO blocks you say?

Care to say how far human remains were carried from GZ..........2 blocks? 3 blocks away?

Far enough so that this silly so called "Cordoba Kumbaya community love nest" i.e. Islamic center should not be built because of it's incredible insensitivity to the non muslim victims.:horse:

Not just the police, even ANA soldiers.
Apparently most of the ones that engage in it aren't really gay (don't laugh! Really!) but merely consider it friendship.
Then there's the other side of it;
A lot of it is apparently status related and it basically boils down to the stronger guys raping the weaker ones.
An Irish soldier called Douglas Beattie documented some of it (along with some examples of stupidity in the american army) in his excellent book... the name of which I'm ashamed to say I forget.
