Iceland's president says he would ban pineapple on pizza if he could

Faced with uproar at home and a social media storm abroad, the president of Iceland has been forced to clarify his outspoken stance on one of the defining questions of the age: whether pineapple should be allowed on pizza.

Last week, answering questions from pupils at a high school in Akureyri, Guðni Th. Jóhannesson said his favourite football team was Manchester United and he was “fundamentally opposed” to pineapple on pizzas.

The president then went further, saying that if he could, he would ban the tropical fruit as a pizza topping if he could. Understandably, Twitter and half the world’s online media went into overdrive.

I think pineapple on pizza is stupid. I would like to try baked apple slices though. Its also a democratic thing whether its against the law, now the thread can stay in p&r section. I know of no Christian religion that hates it.

Pineapple and ham is delicious on pizza. There was a joint in San Diego called Woodcarver Pizza that my dad would take me to, whenever he had to go to Camp Pendleton.

I didn't think I would like it but I did. The only problem is that not everyone makes pizza worthy of pineapple so I usually go with sausage pepperoni and mushroom.

Man, I could go for a Woodcarver Pizza right about now. I wonder if they are still in business. This was in the 80's.

Pineapple is ok actually but I think it makes it get cold quicker and usually its way to thick or a bunch of cubes. Think best id thin slices or grated stringy pieces. I will try some at a buffet but not order one whole.

I like pineapple on pizza, spinach, too, a spinach Alfredo pizza is hard to beat. But back to pineapple, a luau pizza with a pineapple upside down cake for dessert would be a pretty darn good meal.

First time I had pineapple on pizza was at Tokyo Disneyland. I was like "what is this exotic far east shit, and what have they done with my beloved pizza?" But I liked it immediately. Not my favorite but I'll get it from time to time.

I also like Hawaiian Pizza. There was this place years ago named Numero Uno that made my favorite. They had a thicker bakery crust that was a little sweet tasting. Too bad they closed.
