Peter Jackson WILL direct The Hobbit

This is excellent news. Jackson has done a faithful rendition of the other books (save the Hollywood ending of the third), and I can't put nearly as much faith in any other director.

Plus he's a national treasure.

I hope he doesnt turn The Hobbit into another movie about walking.

Imagine how bad-ass those dwarves could be if Tarantino would have gotten the directing job.

Wow this thread got really fuckin weird there for a while. But all I can say about this news is YES!!! Now I can put my death wish on the back burner for a couple of years.

It isn't even sure yet if he really directs it, because the whole project is in pre-production since years. In the meantime the fellowship would have bring back the Ring 2-times

I had my fingers crossed for Uwe Bol to direct but he's too busy directing his next epic to the walmart 5$ bin.

WOOT!!! Looks like two more fantasy masterpieces are on the way!!

I would have really liked to see what Del Toro would have done with the material, though. But in the end, who better than Peter Jackson to direct?

It makes me wonder why Jackson is jumping on board now and didn't just do it from the beginning.

The question for Jackson is what happens to all his other projects, like the Tintin sequels and Dam Busters, which were part of the reason he wasn't directing this in the first place.

I know this is off topic, but I can't believe how much weight PJ has lost! He looks totally different ...

Here Zombie, Zombie, Zombie...
It only seems natural. I bet it was all arranged a long time ago, it was just a ploy, saying that Del Toro was going to do it. They drag their feet, hmm and haa... he backs out, Jackson in, everyone happy and all the hype that comes with it.

Fuck yeah! That's the best entertainment news I've heard in a long time. I hope he doesn't take too long.

At least Del Toro can do Hellboy 3, Mountains of Madness, Frankenstein, Van Helsing, Count of Monte Cristo, etc now.
That guy has alot of projects to do. I guess him leaving was a good and a bad thing.
