Organ Donation?

I was filling in my drivers license application form the other day an the last box i came across was the organ donation box, at first i was like stuff it, you can just take all my organs but as i put pen to paper about to tick the "all organs" box i started thinking should i do this:confused:, i still havent ticked anything but im seriously thinking about becoming a donor, i just keep having hesitant thoughts as to whether i should or not because i dont know much about it, i would like to save someones life of course but im still young and hesitant, i just need to learn a bit more about it i think before i do tick the box.
So i was just wondering what are your thougts on organ donation and can you give me any advice/info etc.

I know i could look around via google etc. but i reckon all that i would get would probably be all pro organ donation ya know so i'd just like to hear peoples personal opinions i think:)

cheers:thumbsup:

Not to overshadow your thread but this has been done. You might find some good answers here. Of course there are many new members now that can offer up an opinion too.

I am a donor and a advocate for it. I think families should discuss and everyone be aware of everyone else's wishes. Not just be on your drivers license.

This hits home on the subject of 'quality of life' too. A subject all people I feel should discuss with their ******.

Organ donation isn't just a if 'unplugged' thing of course, but I feel strongly those wishes should be clear and legal. With the living will. Your ****** must be sure of your other wishes as well. In their grief many when asked immediately say no. Many sorry later for their quick response, but they were overwhelmed at the time. Car accident, sudden death etc. are able to give too as long as its an immediate harvesting of the salvageable organs. Fast answers by families can make all the difference. They are much needed and you can save a life. How could that be a bad thing? :)

When I went in for my appendectomy about a year ago, I told the doctor, "While you're in there you can help yourself to whatever else you can find!"

Seriously though, I think being an organ donor is the way to go. Very few of us get any sort of advanced notice when we are going to die. Like LadyLove said, it is important to be prepared and talk these things over with ****** and friends before the time comes.
