Operating System?

RHEL Fedora 6 on my web server
XP Pro SP2 on my laptop

Leopard 10.5.7 Intel on both an iMac and Macbook. I also regularly use XP SP3 on various computers. Have some experience with a few Linux distros and sometimes use Solaris

Anyone beta Windows 7 Release Candidate?

About a year ago my brother (he's a real tech head) installed Debian Linux on my computer. He set everything up for me and he wrote some stuff down for me like how to update the system and install and remove software. It took some getting used to but now I don't want anything else anymore. I especially like that I don't have to worry about viruses and I don't even have to use a firewall. I've even learned a thing or 2 about how computers work so if I can use it everybody can :1orglaugh

It took me 10 years to move from Win98 to Xp, so I'm in no rush to move to anything else..
just give me another 9 years and I'll think about it.

You're right. You can't beat open source OS and Linux makes the best, easiest to use IMO.

Win XP...although I use Firefox & Mozilla for internet & email.

@ Boothbabe: Debian is my favorite Linux distribution. Your brother chose well.

I've used the following operating systems over the years for my desktop PCs:

1992-1995: MS-DOS (5.0 upgraded to 6.22; tried Windows 3.1 but preferred dosshell)
1995-1998: Mini Linux
1998-2006: 32-bit Debian Linux dual-booting with Windows 98 then XP
2006-now: 64-bit Debian Linux

I also briefly tried QNX, BeOS, FreeBSD, and Ubuntu Linux.

OSX
I love it :D

I'm using the RC. I like it alot, no problems. I can adjust brightness, which I can't do in Ubuntu. The it's easier to adjust the power settings on my laptop.

Which "os" are you guys(girls) using.

Windows
Linux
Mac
Unix Etc.

Currently I'm using Linux Redhat v9.0. It's great...
I recoment Linux alot! Make the switch.

cheers:hatsoff:

I've pretty much got them all right now. On my personal computers, I've got a desktop tri-booting XP, Vista and Ubuntu, and a laptop dual booting XP and OS X Leopard. In my computer shed, I've got three desktops that between them boot about 10 different Linux distros. I've got machines running Solaris, FreeBSD, and for the real geeks among us, I've got a couple running ReactOS and Amiga.

Anyone beta Windows 7 Release Candidate?

I just last week put it on a new machine I built, and I must say, it's snappy as hell. Considering the parts I put in it were at least 2 years old, it's booting in about 20 seconds, I've yet to have a crash, and I've benchmarked it somewhere between 25 and 45 percent faster.
