Doesn't feed trolls and would appreciate it if you
I no longer remember what the argument to stay is.
As far as I could tell, it was all just to line some pockets with war profiteering. Halliburton, etc. Seems the most reasonable explanation at this point. :dunno:

One one hand, he was elected and should be able to lead his country in his own way...

But on the other, he is a lowly pawn trying to stand up to the king who put him in power...

Countries like Afghanistan and Pakistan don't have the same sort of influence over their people as western governments do. They'll only control major cities such as Kabul or Kandahar, all the tribal areas will be ruled by tribal chiefs who often inherit their position rather than be elected in. You need to get them all onside to make any real difference to the future of the country, most view Karzai as an American puppet as he was unheard of before America put him in charge.

Doesn't that make Aghanistan?

You beat me to it! I was going to say something pithy like: Take the F out? That will make it Aghanistan! What are you trying to pull here, mister?

At least we know we operate with a similar mindset. :hatsoff:

We've been wasting lives, money and time (in that order) in Afghanistan and Iraq for 5 years.

We never should've gone into either country. We have no money. We could've left each country on our terms. Now, we're going to be leaving both countries on their terms.

Is it any surprise that Hamed Karzai is a dipshit? He was Dubya and the NeoCons' (yes, them) handpicked "guy." The same incompetents who took the country to war on lies then couldn't even find "the right guy" to lead the "free" nation.

This latest "news" is merely the sad, pathetic inevitable conclusion to a what has been nothing more than a total complete blunder of American foreign policy.

Habib the goat fucker is the only option besides the Karzai brothers?

Well, yes. He's the only guy so disgusting that the Mujahedin (which all tribal leaders in Afghanistan belong to & who control the opium production & sales, along with the taliban), the taliban and even his family members despise him.

So he has no connections with opium, the taliban & even if his family was accidentally killed in a coalition raid against the taliban he still wouldn't care/know.

It's always the same thing : USA claims they are gonna "free this country from dictatorship", they do kick out the dictator (killing inoccent citizens -collateral damages, as they call them- at the same time but they are unable to deal with the guerillas and militias wich spreand terror among the population.
Finally they leave the country, leaving it worst than how it was before they came in.

The US should understand once and for all that they are not some kind of "world's cops" :nono:

now Galbraith reckons Karzai likes him so opium. lol-tastic

US special forces soldiers dug bullets out of their victims’ bodies in the bloody aftermath of a botched night raid, then washed the wounds with alcohol before lying to their superiors about what happened, Afghan investigators have told The Times.

Two pregnant women, a teenage girl, a police officer and his brother were shot on February 12 when US and Afghan special forces stormed their home in Khataba village, outside Gardez in eastern Afghanistan. The precise composition of the force has never been made public.

The claims were made as Nato admitted responsibility for all the deaths for the first time last night. It had initially claimed that the women had been dead for several hours when the assault force discovered their bodies.

“Despite earlier reports we have determined that the women were accidentally killed as a result of the joint force firing at the men,” said Lieutenant-Colonel Todd Breasseale, a Nato spokesman. The coalition continued to deny that there had been a cover-up and said that its legal investigation, which is ongoing, had found no evidence of inappropriate conduct.
