If the vote itself is absolutely needed for the system you use, then maybe pass it around to the ladies, and rotate who gets it.

thats perfectly ok. if you dont want to use the extra votes, you absolutely dont have to. if you want to award them to someone, you can, but if you want to just ignore them, thats completly fine, too
