I think I know Duke well enough from other threads to guess that he's just joking with the orig. post. Just mocking some of the morons who say such crap all the time. He's nothing remotely as extreme as a commie or a fascist. But that doesn't mean he's Christ-like, either.

It's disturbing how some people can only see things in extreme black and white.

And anything that they don't like must be fascist or communist, definitions and historical precedents for those be damned!

I never thought Bush was a fascist - but that doesn't mean that he's anything like a "good guy", either. I think he and Cheney were dangerous.

Well, I'm not sure I agree with your characterization of the situation. Firstly, far too many Dems were on board with the Patriot Act and various other instruments that have worked to erode civil rights (and I say that as someone who's NOT a Democrat - is that whining?), and the Dems in DC - including Obama - are hardly taking strong actions to turn around many of the Bush administration's intrusions on civil rights.

Most importantly though, I think it's a bad idea to set such miserable situations as those in Zimbabwe or Somalia as benchmarks for the U.S. Are you saying people ought not to complain until things get as bad as they are in THOSE countries? Of course, if everyone stops "whining" then they almost certainly WILL get that bad....

I'm pretty sure there are republicans who agree that the measures Obama is taking are necessary as well, but you don't hear anything from them & if it proves to be effective, then no, I doubt any sane republican president is going to turn it back...

Ok, maybe I went a bit too far by taking these 2 countries as an example, but let's be honest, did you notice any difference in your private life when this patriot act was enacted? Do the wealthy Americans suffer that much now that they have to pay a few more $ in tax money? So maybe they have to wait a month longer before they can buy that new sportsmodel car, so what!?
