No....much to the shagrin of most of the members on here, I'm not dead. I haven't been able to come here and post my usual wisecracks for the past few weeks because I recently got a new job. With the combination of already going to school I haven't had much free time as of late. Freeones just doesn't pay enough for trolling duties around here.

I got a little bit of time to go see the new Nightmare yesterday, and I actually thought it was pretty good. I still like the original more though, but if you're a Nightmare fan you should go see it. I especially liked the first kill scene. Not a way you'd expect Freddy to kill somebody....for obvious reasons if you've seen the movie. My only complaints were a few scenes where they used that shitty cgi. They would have looked a lot more convincing had they used old school special effects. I give it a 3 out of 5 stars.

P.S. Freeones should start paying me for movie reviews as well.

I should probably go see it, but i'm just jaded by all these disappointing horror remakes. Directors these days are too lazy to develop new concepts.

Amityville 2005, Friday the 13th 2009, Nightmare On Elm Street 2010, etc...

Are producers and scenarists so poorly inspired or lazy not to create new movies instead of making remakes from old classics ?

Hey at least they have not remade Evil Dead yet, so I have that small bastion of hope that they won't touch that original.

It could not possibly be as good as the original.

People forget that Hollywood's goal is making money, not producing art.

There are bigger things to be worrying about than going to watch this POS........like Iron-Man 2 coming out next week.

Yes but the biggest success didn't came to sequels, remakes or adaptations, the biggest success came from original ideas.
Avatar was a totally original idea and it earns about 3.000.000.000 $

You think Avatar was an original idea??? Avatar had one of the most generic, clichéd plots and cast of characters I can think of. It also cost more money and took more time to make than any film in history. It was a huge risk.

Hollywood doesn't want that. They want to make Saw movies and remakes that are guaranteed to make money. Think about it, Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 was one of the worst movies ever made, yet it still made money because we're all a bunch of Pavlovian monkeys. Hollywood knows this. Movie making is a business.
