hi guys and girls of New York, in June i will be visiting for the first time in NYC and i was wondering what would be the most economical way to stay in the city?

Hotels? (no more or less than 3 star) Apartments? Backpacker joints?

any feedback would be appreciated!

Sorry, I've never been to New York, and would, therefore, be of no help to you. I know it's not the answer you were looking for, but at least I'm replying, unlike everyone else.

A few years ago I stayed at the Micelangeo Hotel. It was OK but I don't know any other place at all. It's right in the heart of NYC and is reasonable for NYC.

If you want "cheap" lodging, then you are better off staying in New Jersey across the river close to the Newark airport. That's about as cheap as you can get.
