New Alice In Chains

Wow, that's really not Alice in Chains-y. It doesn't sound too bad but it's a big enough change of direction that I can't really consider it the same band.

i freakin love alice in chains... man in the box will always be my baby makin music hahaha

It's not bad.

But without Layne Staley up front they really arent Alice in Chains anymore. That's just my opinion.

i agree man in a box is awesome im not sure if im digging the new alice in chains tho

Jerry Cantrell Is a Great Artist but he should have went on and did his own thing and not use the AIC name without Layne just doesnt seem right

I was real apprehensive about Alice in Chains continuing with another singer cos they were one of my fave bands when I was a kid, but the new singer is really good. they even sound like Alice in chains and not one of the many cheap rip off bands that immitated their sound and style in the 90's :1orglaugh

Yeah, I agree with Blue Balls. It doesn't really sound like AIC without Layne. But I kind of predicted that before I heard it.

I didn't like the songs at first, but now that I've heard them more they're pretty catchy. The song Check My Brain sounds like something off of Cantrell's Boggy Depot, but I have no clue what to compare A Looking In View to.

I'll reiterate this point again. I totally agree. Cantrell is talented in his own right but I think the band should have changed their name. Its not AIC without Layne. IMO Layne represented grunge with his voice...

Layne defined the group AIC. Cantrell is IMO one of the most original guitarists in the last few generations with his feverish riffs, and distorted pick ups. Together they were great. Just like Page and Plant. On thier own they are still great in thier own accord, but it's just not the same. I think Cantrell is really striving to recreate everything he and Stahley had together... I just think it's always going to come up a bit short. :(

I just saw them a few days ago in Toronto and they blew the roof off the joint. William Duvall is a great fit with the band and IMO does the old songs justice (except Sludge Factory).

I respect everyone's opinion about Layne and the view that they shouldn't call themselves AIC anymore and all that but I have no problem with them continuing as AIC. As great as Layne was, Jerry was always the driving force of the band. IMO Layne was only half of the voice. IMO there is no AIC without Jerry.

I also saw Jerry years ago when he was touring the Degredation Trip albums and I have to say, Sean Kinney and Mike Inez "make" the AIC songs live. Jerry doing AIC tunes on his solo tour with a different backing band was good and all but seeing/hearing the new AIC bust out the classics took those songs to the next level.

Can't wait for the new album.

Should ditch the name Alice in chains.....why the fuck should they do that? Did Metallica die with Cliff burton or AC/DC die with Bon Scott? Please......so anyway who got the new album? I think it is real good no doubt.

They actually said a few years ago they wouldn't use the AIC name out of respect for Layne. Guess they don't respect him anymore.

Out of the people who have sung for AIC since Layne died, Maynard has been the best, but he's got too much going on anyway =)

It brought back memories of how much I loved their self-titled album with Heaven Beside you, again and Grind. All that is lost with this effort w/o Layne.
