Need a new multitool.

I used to have a Leatherman supertool, one of the first models Leatherman did but about a month ago I lost it so I need a new one. Is Leatherman still one of the best multitools or are there others of equal/better quality? I'm kinda tied between the Leatherman Wave and Victorinox Swisstool (both 99 euro's each). Any thoughts?

I have a Leatherman charge. I've taken it everywhere I go for almost 4 years now, used it probably every single day, even on xmas to open presents. Everything works great, the blades are still razor sharp (had 5 stitches early last year that can attest to that), I love it. It costs a little more than the wave, not sure how much, but if you're looking for a serious multitool it's definitely worth it.

I have about 3 each of the Leatherman and Victorinox multi tool variants as members of my ***** collection. Funny thing, I don't believe that I've ever used them before other than when I go on our annual Springtime wilderness back pack trips.
For domestic daily carry I prefer the cheapo (about $40.00 U.S) Premium Link Upgrade
This is one of those rare products where I prefer the least expensive model, in this case, better than the companies more pricier offerings. :D How often does that happen ? Never !
Benchmade "Aus 8" steel is the kind ! The mechanical workings and tight tolerances of this particular ***** are equal to or better than comparable styled knives costing $200.00 or more. The Taiwanese outsource mfgr of the Benchmade Snipe have done a splendid job.

Oh, **** ! I forgot, This is a "multi tool" thread :o

The Leatherman charge seems nice. I've also read some reviews on a couple of sites and most seem to prefer the Victorinox. Doesn anyone have any handson experience in a working environment with a Leatherman or Victorinox? I work as a mechanic on a small shipyard so I'll be using it daily.

I found an online store that sells the Victorinox Swisstool for 82 euro's. Another 10 euro's for shipping and handling so that's a real bargain.....makes it a lot easier to choose.

I work maintenance at an 11 acre resort. I am constantly using the pliers, screwdrivers, and ***** blades on mine. I have even used both the file and saw blade on occasion, can't say that about any other multitool I've owned, and I've never been disappointed with the functionality of any part of it.

How user friendly are these particular tools for you guys ? Have the pull out features become more accessible than in the past ?

I have always found that the multi type tools were a good option for "MacGyvering" but when a job really needed to get done, I have always employed the appropriate, real application, tools i.e. screwguns, cable cutters, wrenches, and files to get the job done. files and so forth.

A multitool is never a substitute for any dedicated tool, but it's nice when they can save you trips back to the tool shed. I have no trouble getting all the bits of my Leatherman open, and I have big fat sausage shaped fingers.

With the Leatherman supertool you had to unfold it to be able to use the knives and such (wich actually was a big plus for me) and the handles weren't rounded but I always used it when I was working on electrical systems in boats. It was very convenient to be able to take out the ***** with the tool unfolded to cut a tyrib or something else. This type of construction might not be suitable for others but it served me well during the 12 yrs I owned it.
