NASCAR leadership continues to make terrible decisions

nascar is dying because it's leadership is unqualified to hold the positions and/or make the decisions needed to operate a billion dollar buisness.
The constant 'tinkering' and self richous attitude plus far too many poor marketing/track decisions have eroded a once great sport.
Bristol used to be the hardest ticket in nascar to aquire then the track is 'improved' and now the track can't draw flies.
The 'Chase' is the most vomitous crock of shit. whomever thought that up couldn't have been older than 12.
Green/white/checker?? Lucky dog??
Debris cautions by the thousands???
Nobody in the sport are allowed opinions about the sport without threat of censure??
Racing is racing lets get back to letting the boys do just that lets let the flavor back into the sport and for fucks sake quit trying to fix what isn't broken.

They need to go back to prioritize good racing and prioritize the integrity of the sport, instead of trying to milk every last cent or orchestrating some gimmick they think might bring in viewership. Good racing would solve that for them. Instead it seems they try to create artificial excitement and over time less people fall for it.

Trying to make it so the cars aren't virtually the same with slightly different decals, having all participants being treated equally, and having a consistent, fair, and understood rulebook instead of just making crap up as they go along when it suits them would also help.

I'm not a Tony Stewart fan, but I think that fining him for making a comment about safety was WAY too much. I agree with Zeeblofowl, in that NASCAR needs to get back to its roots. Modern NASCAR reminds me of F1 in the late 80's and early 90's under Jean-Marie Balestre.

I agree. A good start would be to remember what the "S.C" stands for:

I cut back on watching the races when Darrell Waltrip started his incessant cheerleading for Danicant Patrick a couple of years back (she dropped a puck for a hockey game and Darrell said, "Look at that! There just ain't nuthin' she ain't afraid to do!" Seriously, dude? Are you drunk, high or being paid a bribe? Has there ever been a case of a hockey player attacking the celeb that dropped the puck???). I'm not even sure if he still calls Sprint Cup races anymore. But I got sick of that, so I didn't watch or DVR the races on Fox after that. Then, I just lost interest all together. I still try to read the results, but that's about it. I hate that too, cause I liked Darrell as a driver. He was goofy, but talented.

Last year Nascar listened to the drivers and went to a low downforce package, and in the first 12 races the racing has been excellent. Today's races had a 40 lap battle for 1st-3rd at the end. Jeff Gordon's doing great job in the broadcast booth and keeping DW focused on the race.

They should listen more to the drivers to be sure.

Good to hear. I'll have to start checking them out again.

Lessening the downforce is a good move, IMO. I think that helps the truly talented drivers to be able to show their stuff, while the ones who have to rely on the car being nailed to the track will fade to the back once the tires begin to wear.
