I'm not surprised. I really don't understand why M. Night Shamsiakseif$%$^$#alan gets any more work. I kind of liked the idea of the movie, kinda sounds like an old Twilight Zone episode. It'd be great if it turned out they just got in their heads that the devil was among them and they go psycho and try to kill each other but it's revealed that the devil was never one of the people. (Or was that the actual story?)

If the plot was as you described it, that'd be giving M. Night too much credit.
I'm just as surprised as you that he gets any work. He's like those guys that come out with the "_____ Movie" ripoffs, he's just become a running joke among the film community. Me and my friend were actually betting on what the twist ending would be for this movie, not that we were going to go see and verify it. My bet was that it would turn out that they were all already dead and the elevator was an elevator to Hell. Was I close?
I don't know why Shyamalan gets so much slack for his "twist" endings. Who doesn't do twist endings? The only really bad movies he did in my opinion were The Happening and the Last Airbender. I think he has a decent feel for horror and originality. I don't love him, but he's not the worst director on Earth like some people make him out to be.
I understand what you're saying but he is no longer original when he is labeled "the twist ending guy", because people are expecting it. The Happening actually didn't even have a twist ending but it was such a poorly acted, written movie that I just laughed the entire time. I liked the 6th Sense but that was about it.
