The Time - What Time Is It?
The rest were from LPs that I put on blank cassettes (Memorex for the old timers).

How are you people remembering? I saw this thread when it first came up and I'm drawing a complete blank.

Deep Purple - Perfect Strangers. If it wasn't the first, it was one of them, and the one that meant the most to me. As mentioned, I bought LPs and transfered them over to tape.

****, I'm not sure. "The Angels Greatest Hits" - by The Angels or one of AC-DC's albums.

Can't remember.

Nine Inch Nails. Broken.

I had also borrowed my girlfriend-at-the-times' copy of Mellon Collie. That was heaven.

My taste in music when I was buying cassettes was average to pretty ordinary.....various artists or Aussie rock or gasp....Bon Jovi  My first was some best of '89 I think? Last cassette I bought changed my taste in music forever, Soundgarden's Superunknown. Better late than never.....

Whitesnake - Self Titled from 1987 and Def Leppard - Hysteria were the first two Cassette Tapes I bought with my own money in the spring of 1989.

I can't really remember my first pre-recorded cassette. But the last I found, when I dug out my old cassette deck from 1983, was:

Billy Idol Idol Songs: 11 Of The Best

And I admit I had [NOBABE]Vanilla Ice[/NOBABE]'s tape with '[NOBABE]Ice Ice Baby[/NOBABE]'.

Another great one was Icehouse: PRIMITIVE MAN

THAT is a killer album, no fill-in tracks. If you are into Bowie etc, go and get it

I drew a blank at first. Then I remembered I bought my first Walkman and I needed something to play in it. That was when I bought my 1st recorded tape.

I remember mine because my ultra religious parents didn't like me bringing the devil's music into the house. So I had to hide the contraband.

Hard to say. Aerosmith's Toys in the Attic, maybe? :dunno: Whichever one I pulled out of the Columbia box first. Anybody else here a (former) member of the Columbia Record & Tape Club back in the day? Remember them? "Get 5000 records & tapes for a penny! And then... we'll harass you every month and hunt you down until you die if you don't buy 10,000 more at regular price!" That's why I can't share my real name here. They still have a contract out on me.

I never had any cassettes. Went straight from LP/reel to reel to CD/CD-R. Didn't like the sound quality of cassettes.
