LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Muhammad Ali, the three-time heavyweight boxing champion who became the most recognized person in the world, died Friday after a brief bout with respiratory illness and a decades-long battle with Parkinson's disease, according to a spokesperson for the family. He was 74.

Although he'd been ill for a long time, this is hard to believe. One of the most iconic people to have lived in my lifetime, is dead. Some people, I don't know... you just feel like they won't die, no matter how old or ill they become. :crying:

R.I.P. to the man who adopted the title "The Greatest of All Time".

The name is "Muhammad Ali" At least honour him in his own name.

I am so happy I got to watch his classic fights on live tv back then, the "Thrilla in Manila", the "Rumble in the Jungle" and so on.

There can be noone like him ever again.

Like Howard Cosell, I will call him whatever I want.

RIP Muhammad Ali. I was a kid in the 1970s and didn't realize how spoiled I was seeing guys like Ali, Frazier, Foreman, and Norton fight for free right on ABC TV. Boxing nowadays, especially the Heavyweight Division, can't hold a candle to that. Some people cheered for Ali and some people booed Ali but he knew how to create interest for a fight and was always a great talker.

And Randall "Tex" Cobb. Although he was marginally better as an actor than a fighter. But he proved he could take a punch like a champion.

We will all be free once.
He became a True Legend in 74 (Rumble in the Jungle) and now he died at 74.

I imagine Ali rumbling along in heaven with Drew Bundini Brown.
God is gonna have the best fun of His eternal life.

RUMBLE YOUNG MAN, RUMBLE!

RIP Legend.

Anyway R.I.P. Mr. Ali.

R.I.P. Champ.

I've watched some of his fights on espn classic sports. Just epic. The hand speed he had. He really did float like a butterfly and sting like a bee.

The sport's greatest indeed.

R.i.p.

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
At least he knew HOW to box, and wasn't just some thug that liked to fight. He understood the art, and the traditions of the sport. No one can say, he didn't earn his titles, and his due, he was respected in his sport, and he deserved to be.
