The son is part of the holy trinity of the father, the son and the holy ghost (or spirit), so the son is god, the father is god and the holy spirit is god. Therefore God was nailed to the cross.

Actually Jesus wasn't nailed to a cross, the cross wasn't adopted into Christian symbology until the fourth century. The Romans would nail people to a simple wooden pole with no cross piece, hand over head, not outstretched.
