I thought he meant prophylactic..which would've changed my answer completely.

I think there is a decent possibility that we will be visited by an advanced alien life form and we might try something as kooky as playing music to communicate.

Personally I think if we find some college girls to show their boobs to the alien visitors, that would make a far more effective welcome message...

the movie "silent running" was a warning, as was Arthur C. Clarck's "2001" (anti tech movie, modern day frankenstien). Gotta go with "Armageddon" #2, with minority report #1(only on the premise) we are our own worst enemy.

the only one of these that is going to be coming true anytime is AI. although, minus the psychic part, all of the technology in Minority Report is possible or currently in development.

remember that science fiction isn't about trying to predict or otherwise forcast the way that the future will be, it's about showing a possible future as a basis for understanding things about our current time.

so really the closest one is Brazil's aka. 1984 & 1/2. At least in concept, although not in pragmatic design.

what is soylent green?

Never heard of Soylent green?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soylent_green

"Soylent Green is a 1973 dystopian science fiction movie depicting a bleak future in which overpopulation, pollution, and the resulting severe damage to the environment have led to widespread unemployment and poverty. Real fruit, vegetables, and meat are rare, commodities are expensive, and much of the population survives on processed food rations, including "soylent green" wafers."

Soylent green was made from corpses.

The only one of those movies that is remotely close is 2001.

*shrug* terminator were great movies. well at least the first 2, mainly the 2nd. the thrid really deserved to be kicked in the nuts. the time travel thing is a little out there, but the whole skynet thing, that will happen sometime. at least in one form or another.

Considering the recent admission on the lack of security of nuclear weapons by the USAF, perhaps it should be Dr. Strangelove.

I also thought about Soylent Green, then there's A Boy and His Dog.
