Most Overrated Restaurants

LOL All I asked is who ever rated those places highly enough for them to be overrated? I know someone who worked at Applebees for years as a server and as a manager. They literally get a lot of their ingredients in 5 gallon buckets. Food prepped in some assembly line and then shipped to the restaurants. I might be a food snob but won't apologize for wanting good ingredients for the money I spend. Who wouldn't? How is that out of line? I went to Red Lobster last year for a friend's birthday dinner and it was pathetic. Tiny shrimp, crab in a pool of butter/vegetable oil mixture and salad that came out of a 10 pound bag. Sorry but if I'm missing out then I'm just fine. But out of curiosity, I'd like to know what I'm missing out on exactly?

I think the problem is what I said. America can get away with having restaurants that exist solely to exist and generate revenue that aren't good, have no plans on being good, never will be good, and yet still succeed. Blows my fucking mind. Who the fuck can't cook their own beans? If you can't do that and serve canned beans, close your fucking doors right fucking now. Problem is, people keep going and paying for that. WHY!?

I just got from this costal town I went on a quick holiday to and I was spoiled with some of the best seafood I've tasted since back when I would go deep sea fishing myself and I honestly just can't get over how food is treated. I really really hate it.

The Fouquet's in Paris is highly overrated and isn't stellar.

I know I’m starting a firestorm of controversy here but I gotta give a mention to the famous and world renowned Panda Express Orange Chicken. Tastes like soggy McNuggets smeared with Orange Marmalade Preserves.

I tried Panda Express once and never again. Overrated.

of course, look where it's located. it doesn't get more touristy than the Champs Elysees right by the Arc. It was once a classic restaurant now it's just over priced food that isn't horrible, but not even close to some of the great Parisian restaurants. Bistro Paul Bert is underrated. Or go sit at the counter at Les Enfants du Marché and you'll have one of the best meals of your life cooked right in front of you with great wines all made from fresh local ingredients.

Fucking tourists!!! They're always ruining a goddamn pornstar POV tourist travel film!!!

Panda Express is a huge disappointment, it's right next door to a new Pie Five, which sucks about the same.

I know a better restaurant than Bistro Paul Bert which is the Petit Celadon - Hôtel Westminster Paris a top notch restaurant located rue Daunou Paris 2nd district https://www.lafourchette.com/restaurant/petit-celadon-hotel-westminster-paris/170 also an outstanding japanese gastronomic restaurant opened lately, it is Ao Izakaya located rue Caumartin Paris 9th district https://www.lafourchette.com/restaurant/ao-izakaya/323811. I go almost every week end to eat at restaurant with friends and I use the site thefork.com to book a table and I only choose restaurants that have marks starting from 8.9 on10

yes there are better, for sure. But it's a great place and Chef Bertrand is a friend and puts out an excellent menu with top level ingredients. I also LOVE Chez Robert et Louise...not the best food in Paris but consistently very good and a great French dining experience.

Me with Chef Bertrand in April

Thank you for your support, sir. I thought I was in real trouble with the forum daring to besmirch the culinary prowess of the Panda Express. May I be so bold to also say their fried rice tastes like wet toothpicks.

Hey X, you know what's not overrated? Furr's Cafeteria. That's some 5 Star All You Can Eat Good Eats. Even better than Golden Corral. Unfortunately there aren't any Furr's out by me in California. When I lived in Austin for just 7 bucks I could go over to Furr's and make a real piggy out of myself. Are there any Furr's up by you that you enjoy?

I will keep that in mind, thanks for the recommandation. There is also another restaurant that you should try, it is the Restaurant Cap https://www.lafourchette.com/restaurant/restaurant-cap/21295 excellent south african sea food, I am sure you will like it. It has a 9.5/10 mark. I went there twice and it was awesome.

wait...did you say "Even better than Golden Corral?" That might be the lowest bar setting of all-time. Might as well eat from a trough. And I grew up on Panda Express and it is nasty beyond nasty. The one here in Clearwater was closed down because of multiple health code violations, one of them being food not being stored at cold enough temperature. The manager was quoted as saying "The refrigeration was set at company guidelines" Nothing like chicken being stored at room temperature. Ewwwwwwwww

I sure did. I know Golden Corral is amazing especially when you consider the value and specialty items but I found Furr's to be an even better dining experience overall. An old roommate of mine in Texas actually called The Golden Corral The Golden Trough.

You haven't lived until you've gone to Shoney's for their breakfast buffet. That one's even better than the breakfast buffet you get at The New Austin Motel! Best part is you don't have to sleep at The New Austin Motel the night before.

The only Popeye's Chicken by me was closed down for health violations. Pissed me off too. Where am I to get my Spicy Fried Chicken now? That chicken was so tasty I don't care if it was from the cayenne pepper they sprinkled from the container or from the cayenne pepper they smeared from their fecal matter. Sure was good either way.

This.
People have *no* idea what they are buying. Even if a restaurant has 'fresh' ingredients, it really doesnt matter since most of the stuff is cooked and thrown into the walk-in until they need it.
Reheated food.. and during a 7pm rush, sometimes microwaved.
Every place you go to is just another shitty kitchen trying to pull off a 4 star dining experience.
They try to diversify the menu to a fault ~ none of these items KEEP very well.
New menu item at my place: Berry cheesecake. Except it is a berry marmalade kinda deal... which noone preps, so we end up buying 'just berries', and putting 'just berries, that arent moldy as that other package' onto cheesecake you really shouldnt pay 1$ for, but the menu wants 3$.
I mean, what do you pay for a one-bite snack?

The trendier the place, the worse it gets. I worked at an olive garden that took itself seriously ~ the kitchen manager oversaw and quality-assured his line, allllll the time.
I worked at a place over in the gay district, 100+ craft beer taps, 'artisan' bullshit menu.. and we were STUPID laidback about everything. Noone followed the menu prep guides, gloves were only for when state inspection rolled around, nobody wore hats, no nonslip shoes required.
Right next to this place was 'Hedgerow', a place owned by Elon Musk's brother. Put some time in at that kitchen and they have the exact same issues, but their cooking times get a few more minutes because they use real wood burning ovens. All these trendy places look good on the outside, but...
let the buyer beware.

Neither Buckee's nor Furr's in the Pineyplex. We used to have a local joint called Fuller's Buffet, everything was made from scratch, southern soul-food at it's best, buffet-style. Place was always packed, but a kitchen fire shut them down several years ago and they never re-opened.

Being Keto you should be able to appreciate their garden bar and fresh steak, cooked to order. I also like their fajitas, carnitas, and pozole. Everyone in Lufkin loves Mr Ray, our local Golden Corral franchisee, he's also got a food court on the west side of town with a monster subs shop inside, which are the best sandwiches in our area.

Once a plant is plucked it is immediately dying lol

But we been through this whole dumbass organic regular food crap.

Golden Corral by me is still a great place to go. I show up at 430p to get in for the 7.95 lunch price and at 5pm is when steaks and roasts, loins, ribs, and specialty meats come out and price goes up to like 13-14 bucks. Win/Win. And I'm five plate minimum there so I make the price one way or the other completely worth it.
