Most Over-Rated Football (Soccer) Players Ever

Thought John Barnes put up with a lot of BS when he went out on the Wembley pitch in an England shirt, imo...

I wouldnt know about that , I go to Scotland games!!

I just meant in general he was over-rated , not quite as good as he was made out to be

I only really seen him play for Liverpool & Watford & maybe a couple of games for England , I can remember him in the 86 world cup didnt really do much there

You could be right on Kuyt. But Arjen Robben is a very good player, not maybe in all his matches, but he saved holland several times on important matches.

^
Kuyt seems to show up for Liverpool but maybe he's invisible for his national team? I think Arjen Robben is completely overrated for club and country, moreso than Kuyt.

Patrick Viera is past his prime. He probably shouldn't be playing anymore, but he was a legit stud 5 years ago.

I agree, but i have to say that he was many times used as a substitute or not even that.

Bert Konterman he used to play in Scotland and he was bad & he kept getting picked for the Dutch National Team , I couldnt quite understand it??????????

the guy is not a team player, he's a show off. Maybe he plays well in europe but in the argentinean seleccion he is just smoke and mirrors.
That's my way of thinking even though I am argentinian as well.

LOL

Show off? You not watch Copa America 07, he and Riquelme carried the team.

Michael Owen. How the fuck this guy could have had the Ballon d'Or ?!
I thought £30M for Xavi Alonso was a bit too much.Good business by
Liverpool though :)
No, even if the sold him for that much money, it wasn't a good deal since without him, Liverpool sucks.

True mate , I said when they sold him it would be a big mistake , he held that team together and done the work that no-one else would do and to cap it all he could pin point passes from miles away

He is a quality player

I forgot about this one.................Wayne Rooney ;)

I'm going to take this comment back , since Ronaldos gone he has shown his worth and is finally reaching the potential he showed a few years ago;)

I have to show respect for a man that is willing to go back and correct a mistake in public. Rep to you, sir. :hatsoff:

He's a fantastic football player. :glugglug:

All of them.Kicking a bag of wind round a muddy field isn't an occupation worthy of much respect.

Be fair now. The pitches aren't always muddy.

Personally I've always thought Frank Lampard was hugely overrated. Same with Ashley Cole. Then again, I may be biased as I hate Chelsea more than possibly everything else ever.

Dunno about Lampard his goal scoring ability is second to none in the world for a midfielder though I do think hes found seriously lacking when it comes to internationals , 4 years ago at the last world cup he was Englands weak link everytime he got the ball he fucked it & missed sitter after sitter. I couldnt honestly beleive not one pundit mentioned it............

But I agree about the wanker that is Mr Cheryl Tweedy , Ive always hated that cunt from the moment I heard him say "They were only offering me 65000 when I wanted 70000 , I nearly crashed my car" when he was in contract talks with Arsenal , he seemed to have forgot he was out for ages yet Arsenal were offering him a good contract and had payed him for all the time he was out

He is just a wanker ,hes the type of guy who I would seriously punch if I was in his company for any length of time , a smarmy lowlife whos doesnt realize how lucky he is , I have no sympathy for knob ends like him.....

Franck Ribery

I'm a Bayern fan, but I have to agree with this. No doubt about it, Ribery is taking apart the Bundesliga at free will, but that's pretty much it. His latest outing against Fiorentina was gutwrenchingly pathetic. Admittedly, Italian teams know best how to contain such a player by fierce defending, but a player with his supposed abilities should have had more impact in that game. In the Barcelona massacre (0-4) last year he was one of the worst players on the pitch. Overall he's a weak finisher, his corner kicks are atrociously unefficient (100+ corners without a resulting goal) and he tends to be cocky and showboating when kicking a penalty which has more often resulted in a saved or missed shot. And he's a freaking diva. I really hope he is gone as soon as possible, and if need be I will personally drive him to Madrid, Barcelona or London.

On the other hand I always thought Arjen Robben was highly overrated, but seeing him now play for Bayern, I will have to correct that. He is everything that Ribery is (high speed, free kicks, technical abilities), plus he's a much better finisher and seems to be just as good against better opponents (he was easily the best player vs Fiorentina).
