Looks like there are a couple things at work here. Along her jawline, I'd say the effect you see probably stems from some static electricity present.

The small fibrous particles visible on parts of her face and neck could possibly originate from cotton balls used during makeup application, or it could simply be defects in the photo scan.

I'm not going to vote, but you have recognize that Kathy Ireland was repeatedly not given a cover, due to her jawline. SI, among other publications, was afraid she was too "manly" looking to feature. But massive fan mail resulted in her broad popularity, especially after her cover. Ms. Dickenson is quite lovely. But being a man of the '80s, it's not that I find Kathy more beautiful, but I am tied to my boyhood lust for her.

Also, men forget that women do get facial hair they don't use a depilatory as it will only grow back faster, and especially since it's at the back of their jaw, close to their ears and hair any way. Furthermore, if you've ever lived with a woman with a Roman or Balkan heritage, even some select Slavic backgrounds, as well as some Hispanics, you know the dark, raven hair combined with select hormones do increase their facial hair.

Though ghastly now, it has been widely acknowledged that Janice was the first ever “Supermodel” back in the 70’s and 80’s and was generally regarded as the most beautiful model of her time.

Since the intent of MBF is to judge and compare candidates’ looks while they were in their prime, without hesitation, I cast my vote for J. Doreen Dickinson. In her heyday, her face was absolutely stunning, cutely exotic and in some of her shoots almost asiatic in appearance.

Vintage Janice was uniquely gorgeous, and to this day remains underrated as one of the most beautiful women in modern media history!

Sorry to see her eliminated so soon from the competition.
