Shortstop:Hanley Ramirez, Derek Jeter is a little old to start a franchise with

Left Field:Ryan Braun
Center Field:Grady Sizemore
Right Field:Ichiro, even though he is a bit older

Starting Pitcher:Tim Lincecum
Relief Pitcher:Jonathan Papelbon

I went with a good balance of power and speed,plus lefty/righty balance as well.I would feel 100% confident with this line up over any other one,any day of the week.

To the post above, Miguel Cabrea no longer plays 3B, he is way to slow to play there. I know im a Tigers fan so to put him at the 3B is stupid and would kill you defensively. He plays 1B now.

My line up would be too left handed heavy for me to put him at DH and take out JD.

I would have to take out Pujols,move Cabrera to 1B,and get either A-Rod or Mike Lowell as my 3B.I would probably lean more towards Lowell in that case just to have a more balanced hitting line up and not just a bunch of power hitters.

Since the question is about starting a franchise, age and injury history would have to be factored into the equation. Therefore the choice of Wright (or maybe Longoria) over A-rod at 3B. Mauer seems to be the consensus pick at catcher, but the injury history might be a concern. Since the above lineup would have so much power I would be tempted to go with Yadier Molina for defensive purposes - only 26, his offense would be good enough in that lineup.

Actually, in the context of the question, I'd pick Tim Lincecum over anyone. Halladay is 32, Lincecum will be 25 next month. He could be your ace for 10 years.
