Its not a truly valid alternative, but hey.. its ALWAYS cheaper to order pay per view, bro! ;) Have a friend with a 74 inch and a decent subwoofer for the hard hitting, flesh-smacking SFX?

Well, last time when UFC 61 was on (total disappointment ... ) i just went to a sports bar to see it.... overcrowded, but whatever.

This time, i may go to Hooters......

sports bars are great, because their is a lot of passionate fans there, big screens, its free and u dont have to buy much.....

UFC is always fun to watch except when they spend the entire fight on the ground.

sometimes those are the best fights, though. carlos newton is great and he spends a lot of time on the ground.
randy couture was great and his specialty was ground and pound, which is all on the ground, too.

you need ground fighting - otherwise its too much like boxing. Groundfighting is awesome because its so technical, it is sometimes boring if they just lay there i.e. rashad evans - but if u have a guy like Tito Ortiz on the ground or Diego Sanchez, its not boring.

P.S. David Terrell is gonna be out of UFC 62.

Yeah, as long as they are active on the ground it's ok to watch, but the guys that stall on the ground are very boring. The crowd doesn't have any problem with letting them know that they are being bored either when that happens.

That's one of the biggest differences between fighting in real life and what somebody sees in the movies. In reality they get into a grappling situation a lot more often, at least when you’re fighting one on one. It will even happen more often then not if you see two average people fighting it out in the street and the fight last more than 10-20 seconds. It isn't always glamorous but it's what works and you have to be able to execute and defend against it.

check this out - its like fantasy football or baseball, but with the UFC

i'm usually quite disapointed by UFC. it usually just comes down to grappling, which isn't as entertaining as i'd hoped. i prefer thai boxing.

According to someone who I used to work with the UFC guys are pussys in comparison to what he did. He told me about how testing for your next belt used to be and how it is now (for kempo) and I did watch some of UFC on spike TV and I have to say that he was correct. I'm not saying that I would walk into a room and beat the **** out of a UFC champ but in comparison if he was still doing the same traning and exercising that he was he could do some serious damage. He hasent parctices in years and he did some move on me and took it light on me and left me in some good pain for not having any practice in years and going light. My leag was sour through the next day and my neck hurt like hell for the rest of the night.

UFC started with all types of styles competing against eachother: Kempo, Kung Fu, Tae Quan Do, etc...It's evolved into what it is today because the styles that are used today have proven that the other styles aren't effective against them. There was an episode of UFC Unleashed that featured Royce Gracie, and the first guy on the episode that he made tap was a Kempo fighter. Joe Rogan (as much as I can't stand him) put it really well when he said that martial art have evolved more recently than they have in 700 years because, thanks to the UFC, we now know what works.

As far as the grappling goes I think in recent years people have stepped up their performances and have learned the skill of avoiding being grappled somewhat better than they used to. Also this isn't to say that the other forms of martial arts are necessarily inferior, far from it, because you have to keep in mind things like MMA competitions still have rules that a street fight wouldn't, and that can make a huge difference. Like the fact in a real fight you can gouge the eyes out of your opponent, and bite them among other things. Also as important is the fact that the fights in the compititions are one on one duels. If you’re fighting 5 people and your using techniques that rely on the ground ********** you’re probably screwed. It probably wouldn't matter if you were the greatest person that ever lived. In that situation techniques that disable your opponents as quickly as possible and keep you away from them would work a lot better. Also something that has to be keep in mind is weapons. Even if somebody only has a small ***** that could change trying to grapple with them completely. Still the thing I like about MMA better than stuff like boxing or kickboxing or any of the other stuff is the fact it is a lot closer to real life fighting than anything else.

lol, those old school ufc's are great. so different today - royce gracie was the man.

i do think the ufc needs more kickboxing though....

thai boxing, or well kickboxing in general, is great and it's used quite often in the UFC. obviously not as much as in pride, chute boxe! but it is.
the recent UFC events have been a bit disappointing, though. especially the last one. but for all that great stand-up these guys stand out:
rich franklin, yves edwards, jens pulver, george st.pierre, and of course, chuck liddell. there are more, but these are all current fighters there. at least i heard pulver was coming back. i'd like to see gomi fight in the ufc.

I hadn't seen any of the original UFC's until that unleashed featuring Royce. The biggest shock was when I realized that the timer wasn't counting down, but instead was counting up!!! There were no rounds back then so the timer was just there to show how long the fight had gone on for!

I'd have to say that the biggest ******** to mixed martial arts is Final Fu.... everytime I run into that show I desperatly want to see some UFC guy knock one of the contenders lights out....Yeah fighting definately isn't the same as it used to be ya know like back in the "***** Sport" days lol! Yeah I loved that movie!

final fu is retarded. Watch The Ultimate Fighter...

I love UFC, been watching since UFC 1. Pride I will have to admit that I only got into probably 1 and a half years ago. I don't really like the ring and the stoppages that come with the ropes. But it's still awesome.
