Yeah, I've had a couple of girls who have sent me spam PM's begging me to vote for them. If it was something personal asking me directly to vote for them, I wouldn't have a problem with it, but when they make it so blatantly obvious that it's spam, it really turns me off from wanting to vote for them.

That's just as bad as the girls who make fan signs and give out prizes for votes. I find that all pretty pathetic. Win on your character and if you lose, lose with ethics and grace. (FYI vote for me because you want to, I am not giving anything in return for votes. When you vote, think who is active on here all year long. Not just two or three months before a contest starts)

What we all have to accept, though I hope most don't like it, is the fact that the winner will likely not be someone who the masses considers truly worthy, and the contest will be decided by those who don't spend much or any time on here either. It's nothing more than a meritless popularity contest, which is the reason why I'm not voting at all. Some self-absorbed person with 100,000 or so Twitter followers will likely win, then turn around and beg the same mindless drones who got her the win to turn around and "spoil" her from her Amazon list the next. Sorry but our society rewards people for being all about them and being self-absorbed & using others and whatever means necessary to get what they want. Those are the ones who come out on top these days. Sad but true. It is what it is. I for one won't be a part of it for that very reason anyway.

I know someone who DEFINITELY deserved to win something this year, and who had been screwed over IMHO in the past, but even she probably wouldn't have won anything AGAIN this year, but she isn't even in consideration. So yeah, like I said, it is what it is. Count me out.
