Michele Bachmann Signs Pledge To Ban Pornography

This morning, Iowa’s FAMiLY Leader unveiled “The Marriage Vow: A Declaration of Dependence upon MARRIAGE and FAMILY,” a 14 bullet pledge presidential candidates will have to sign to secure any “future endorsement” from the organization and its influential leader, Bob Vander Plaats.

U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minnesota, quickly signed the pledge Thursday, while an aide to to former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman said he never signs any pledges. A spokesman for U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, said the congressman has reservations, while a representative of President Barack Obama’s Democratic campaign committee declined comment.

Today’s pledge seeks to solidify the organization’s reputation as the state’s conservative moral authority, and it reiterates many of the group’s extreme social views and anti-gay rhetoric. If any candidate signs on to Leader’s vows, they will be agreeing to the following radical constructs:

  • HOMOSEXUALITY IS A CHOICE
  • HOMOSEXUALITY IS LIKE POLYGAMY, ADULTERY, POLYANDRY
  • HOMOSEXUALITY IS A PUBLIC HEALTH RISK
  • SEX IS BETTER AFTER MARRIAGE
  • PORNOGRAPHY SHOULD BE BANNED: Vow 9 stipulates that the candidate must “support human protection of women and the innocent fruit of conjugal intimacy” and protect them from “seduction into promiscuity and all forms of pornography…and other types of coercion or stolen innocence.”
  • REJECT SHARIA ISLAM: Vow 11 requires the candidate to reject Sharia law.

Let me preface this by saying that I am Republican and consider myself to be religious.

[*]HOMOSEXUALITY IS A CHOICE

Yep, because God ALWAYS creates everyone exactly the same.

[*]HOMOSEXUALITY IS LIKE POLYGAMY, ADULTERY, POLYANDRY

Unless you have only one partner. And it's not like all straight people are monogomous non-adulterers.

[*]HOMOSEXUALITY IS A PUBLIC HEALTH RISK

So is sex of all kinds.

[*]SEX IS BETTER AFTER MARRIAGE

What does that even mean?
[*]PORNOGRAPHY SHOULD BE BANNED: Vow 9 stipulates that the candidate must “support human protection of women and the innocent fruit of conjugal intimacy” and protect them from “seduction into promiscuity and all forms of pornography…and other types of coercion or stolen innocence.”

What?

I often look at our politicians here in the UK and die a little bit inside, but its stories like this that cheer my heart. At least I dont have to put up with Extremist Republican rhetoric.

For the EMPEROR!!
Sex is better after marriage .

signing all these pledges is idiotic stuff. its pandering more than it is anything else. It wont influence any voters at all, just unfortunate any candidate is dumb enough to think it will.

Nine Things You Didn't Know About Michele Bachmann's First Man

As U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann heats up the 2012 Republican presidential race, attention has turned to the man behind the fiery Minnesota congresswoman.

Although he tends to stay out of the spotlight, Marcus Bachmann, Michele Bachmann's husband of 32 years, has wholeheartedly embraced his wife's White House bid, abandoning his Christian counseling clinics in Minnesota to join her on the campaign trail.

By most accounts, Dr. Bachmann's campaign role is unique — he describes himself as his wife's political "strategist" but also doubles as a personal assistant, press secretary, and confidante. And his political and religious ideologies are reportedly completely in sync with his wife's take-no-prisoners brand of Tea Party conservatism.

But who is Dr. Bachmann? Here are some interesting facts about the man who could be the nation's first FHOTUS.

I was shocked before about what a person gets to run for the chance of reigning the USA. Now I am partially laughing so hard it hurts, partially asking myself:

Can I be sure that this will stop people for voting for this abomination???

I don't know what the big deal is about her signing some bs pledge....and I'm surprised that nobody has brought up the fact that some tiny, pesky, little thing would get in the way with her pledge.....what is that tiny, pesky, little thing you ask?

The 1st Amendment!!!

Signing all of the pledges in the world is basically pointless because of the 1st Amendment. You can set stricter local standards possibly in some communities....but there is no real way to have a blanket policy for the nation concerning pornography....and now, unlike when the Reagan administration went on their crusade....we have the internet....and that is basically incapable of being policed. Soooooo...ho hum....ho hum! Furthermore....I don't believe she can beat Obama anyway (assuming she won the GOP nom.). :2 cents:

No candidate in their right mind would sign that. You might gain some votes, but in the long-run, you're gonna lose a lot more votes from the more clear-minded people.

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
There goes her chances at even being the republican nominee

To the contrary. She probably just INCREASED her chances. This is the Tea party led/"if you don't agree with everything we say 100%, you're a RINO" GOP of 2011 we're talking about, not Reagan's "big tent" GOP of the 1980's.

IMO, this Tea Party/fiscal conservatism schtick is just a flavor of the day fad. A lot of these people were the same ones who blew the last surplus once Bush got in and started spending money like drunk sailors on shore leave. Michele Bachmann's comprehension of Supply Side economics probably rivals her comprehension of American history... if that. But what these people have been VERY consistent on is their socially conservative beliefs. A lot of them are Evangelicals and Moral Majority types. These people pretty much make up "the base" of the present day Republican party. And these people don't (really) care about or even fully understand debt, deficits or economic policies. But you let them get started on homosexuals, pornography, abortion or drugs!

Michele is silly and probably somewhat crazy. But when it comes to getting votes, she ain't stupid. She knows who her peeps are. And I bet my batshit crazy babydoll wins at least a primary or two, if not the GOP nomination.

BTW, on this very topic, here's a piece that popped up on Google News this morning. Pretty timely, IMO.

The goal isn't isn't to get votes, the goal is to get more votes than the other candidate, and based on her unpopular beliefs, she doesn't have a chance in hell. She's seems to be one of those people who run for an office, knowing they can't win, but they go ahead and waste time and money, because they want a platform to promote their agenda by manipulating people to support their whacky notions. This time, I think her ideas are just too much for people to swallow and I sincerely hope someone gets her on a debate stage. That lucky individual will just make her look sad and ridiculous.
