The One and Only Big *****
Hey guys I have a question to all the sports fan on the board but any one can answer. As you all know I'm from Memphis and I listen to all the radio sports talk in the Memphis area, and of course there are a lot of Memphis Tiger fan in Memphis and a lot of them think they should be in the Southeastern Conference.I don't think so me personal I think they will get ****** in football and in basketball they can hold there own.So what do you guys and dolls think. Thanks for your time.

since the sec has 12 teams, with 6 in each division they would either have to add another team to the other division to equal it out or drop a team (preferably vandy, even thought they went to bowl game, they still suck)

Well, Memphis is one of the best basketball programs in the country! I would say top 10.

As far as football, maybe. They will probably be better than Vandy or maybe Kentucky. :dunno:

I from memphis too I don't worry about sports down here just survival I work on beale st. I started out as a cleaning guy for clubs now I clean and bounce its so bad. I start at 1am and clear people out and watch the buildings this place a disaster

Memphis should have gone to the Big East when the other big dogs from CUSA jumped ship, imo. They have no business in the SEC in any sport except BBall.

Thanks for some of the answers guys anyone else think they should be in or out.:dunno:

Nope. It might seem that Memphis has no competition in Conference USA but they do if you look closely. Sure, the Tigers haven't lost a conference game in three years. But their opponents aren't all slouches. And with the pool of talent available in the sport nationwide, any of the CUSA schools could begin a run. Look at the Atlantic10--everybody wants to hand it to X every year, yet Dayton and the Dukes are giving it their all. Same in the West Coast Conf with the Zags, and Portland only two games behind. The SEC has six and six--they're fine.

I think the case for Louisville going into the SEC is better than Memphis, to be honest. Memphis just isn't competitive enough in football to go into the SEC.

I think there needs to be a massive Conference realignment. Penn State and Boston College need to go into the Big East. Notre Dame needs to go into the Big 10/11. Iowa State needs to go into the Big 10/11. The WAC and the Mountain West need to be Combined. Colorado and San Diego State should go into the Pac-10. Houston probably should go into the Big 12...

we don't want Memphis. we are fine as we are :hatsoff:

Very good point I feel the same way and on that they (Memphis) should have been taken in the Big East and DePaul should have stayed in C-USA,but that is just me.

They can handle it & do no worse or do better actually than Vanderbilt/Kentucky/Miss. St/Ole Miss:dunno:

I would rather go to school in Memphis than in Starkville ,Lexington, Nashville or Oxford.:dunno:

The Big 10 sucks enough as it is right now to loose Penn State. :D You don't want to make it even worse.

Yes, DePaul is not important enough even in Basketball. I remember when Memphis (State) beat USC in the Coliseum way back in the early 90s. Louisville should slide into the SEC and Memphis should move into an expanded Big East with Boston College and Penn State. That would be a solid football conference. Memphis could provide a nice geographic presence to the Big East.

Penn State has no rivalries in the Big 10(11). Penn State/Pitt/Boston College/Syracuse need to be in the same conference. These schools all **** each other and would bring college football back to the NY/NE area. The Big10 might want to think about trying to poach Nebraska....and Notre Dame needs to go into the Big10...it's ridiculous that they are independent. They are irrelevant in the contemporary college football universe....

Get back with me on that what do you guys think.

Yeah. It became ConferenceUSA by way of the Great Midwest Conference. It started in 1975 but by 1995 had been assimilated--like a lot of schools in the past several years. It had Tulane, Louisville, VTech, SFla, SMiss, Charlotte, VCU, Cincy, FlaSt, GTech, Memphis, St. Louis and SC among its members. The Cardinals probably were the most successful member team at the time headed by Denny Crum.

We don't want Notre Dame, then It'll be called the shitty 12 or something to that sort. My god, I remember when the Big 10 was actually a decent conference in football/basketball, what happened in the past 10 years?

Memphis would do better than Mississippi State in football. They would still be good in basketball. Pac 10 doesnt need any more teams (in football) they all play each other. Ohio State is the new Notre Dame.
