Mars probe makes 'ice discovery'

Nasa's Phoenix lander has unearthed compelling evidence of ice on Mars, mission scientists believe.

^^ Ice does not have to be water based. I believe they were not sure what the elements in the "ice cap" were until now. Science needs empirical proof.

In a few week test will be performed to see if there are any organic elements in the soil and water. If there is it would be a major historic discovery. Life on two planets in our solar system would imply the universe is teeming with life. Earth would not be unique. Wow what a time to be alive.

If my memory serves me right, they have already found life on Mars. About 13 years ago they collected some dirt samples from different depths of Mars' surface, and they found a fossilized bacteria in one of the rocks.

I remember that when Clinton announced life on Mars. But I think it was determined that other than organic processes could have caused it. It was not definitive.
