Mariah Carey

She dropped the ball at the ball drop this morning. One of the greatest singers of all-time but has now been reduced to constant lip syncing and terrible performances. BUT at least she looked good doing it :)

Was she really? I thought so too but read technical difficulty and stuff, I don't know. It looked like lip synching, and I wasn't really surprised, it's a sad practice prevalent today in music.

They've been doing this **** for years. EVERYBODY has been doing it for years. It's a nightmare trying to set up live sound, under conditions like that, let alone doing it for multiple acts. Even with the technology being 100 times better then it used to be, they'll continue to do it. television isn't where you go for live sound.

And doing a full production live sound on top of a skyscraper in NYC on December 31? That would be insanely difficult. I watched the supposed NYE Mariah Carey meltdown video and what I saw was a performer that was screwed by technical issues. The first words out of her mouth after she started trying to do "Emotions" were "I can't hear". Why the tech people couldn't get her another ear-piece or other kind of monitor for the next several minutes that she was trying to perform is entirely on them. She was, as she said, "trying to be a good sport here." By the end, it looked like she was doing everything she could not to just start ****** at how frustrating it was. I feel bad for here that they left her hanging like that, and didn't cop to it afterwards. They should have apologized for letting her down sound-wise so she didn't come off as a crap performer.

I don't think I would be very happy without floor monitors in front of me, even with an ear piece. The Beatles famous first shows sounded horrible, every band member has said they couldn't hear anything over the crowd. She wasn't at a concert of her own, so they through a little production together, play her music, and she should be able to flawlessly lip sync....except if you can't hear anything, you can't even make an half assed effort, let alone a genuine one. Everyone in the industry should know by now how badly these things always end up, and just cut to a studio, and work it out like that.
