Man's '91 pickup passes the 1M-mile mark

Wow, I would have never guessed a Chevy truck would last that long, or any pickup for that matter.

That what happens when you take care of things.

Crap. I clicked that link praying that it wouldn't be a chevy, I hope my boss never gets wind of this, it'd make it hard for me to constantly put down chevys to fire him up. On another note, chevy should do the decent thing and offer him a brand new one to trade for it.

what the fuck you lookin at?
I'm sure this isn't the first vehicle to go over 1 million miles! Just the first to make a big deal about it. Even though it really is an accomplishment!

Mine has done a quarter million ...

My 4-cylinder pick-up was the first ever "new" car I ever had, and is closing in on 15 years. It went from mile 6 and is around quarter million now. No unscheduled maintenance ... ever! Assembled 100% in the US, and the transmission is as well (among other components). Only the engine is from Japan.

Best $10,000 investment I ever made. People make fun of me or think I can't afford even a cheap new car. Why bother? Heck, I like the fact that my neighbors thing I'm poor -- smallest house on the block, probably the only adult driving such an older car, etc... I don't "keep up with the Jones'."

I doubt that we'll see this kind of performance again given that most of our steel comes from a cheaper alloyed Chinese source.

Porous metals :(
