This can mean compliments, public displays of affection, and gifts.

Rest of the article is good (albeit I see one of these articles around this time of year always) but with no context that seems out of place. Now if it had daily gifts, constant need of public/private affection and compliment every half hour with babbling nonsense of explaining the compliment; yes, hightail it outta there and don't look back!
