The guy was on Sports Center today in an interview. I'd say he got exactly what he was looking for.

Yeah.. Lebron leaving Cleveland is just like Amare leaving PHX.:1orglaugh

At least the guy got out safe. What do you think some Yankee fan showing up in Fenway with a Ruth jersey on would have gotten???

Sorry. I just doesn't bother me as much when a jackass does something stupid and consequences flow. Did he have the right to go there with the attire of his choosing. In most cases, yes.

We have the right to do allot of things that are dumb, dangerous, ill-advised, etc. Just ask Nick Berg's headless corpse.

I don't condone knocking someone's lights out over something like this but if something bad happened to him it would be his fault.

In this case it would be less about some dumb jersey and some goofy athlete going to play somewhere of his choosing.

It would be more about some jackass deliberately egging on people in a place where there is likely going to be drinking and someone belligerent enough to take his indirect prodding personal.

For example, the bar full of bikers are probably going to go to jail for attempted murder...but while you're laying in traction at some hospital intensive care ward...the first question you should ask yourself is why you wore the, "I Hate Stinking Bikers" in a bar full of drinking bikers.

How does an individual "egg others on" by wearing a garment? Is reactionary and potentially violent protest involuntary? Somebody cannot "egg you on". You can only allow yourself to be engaged in such frivolities. Why are we so willing to diminish the violations of the majority?

This dummy shares blame only when you admit that it's acceptable or likely that protest begets violence. And if that's the case, why not ban protest all together? Let us let the mob rule as they may.

Well, you're talking a theoretical world...I'm talking the real world. You walk into a place wearing something which essentially insults or tacitly makes fun of a bunch of people who are likely under the influence...something bad is likely to happen to you. I believe he knew exactly what he was doing when he decided to wear that jersey to that game.

I mean, that's not obvious to you?

Understanding a reality is not excusing it. :2 cents:

What have I said indicates that it's not obvious to me? I acknowledge bullshit on every level. I just wonder why there's a lack of a defensive posturing? The kid's a dummy...a provocateur..I agree. I've stated so. But why do we write him off as a willing victim of social norms?

Throwing him out was no less reprehensible than ending the entire event all together. Sure, it's an economically sound choice to give him the heave-ho, so let's at least call it that. This was corporatism over civil rights and nothing more. I can't see how that's not universally condemnable. But maybe I should spend less time gazing into the big picture.

Most times a person gets their ass kicked..the ass kicker has no right to do it. But we know the world is not perfect and people will kick your ass (or worse) over nothing these days. "These days"? Hmm, well maybe throughout human history people have been beaten and killed for trivial things.

When everyone knows this is the case...a person intentionally trying to rub someone's nose in something should be open to the prospect of trouble.

This time he was fortunate (yes fortunate) enough to be escorted from a potentially dangerous situation unharmed.

I know there is this in-yer-face-ism nowadays that some people like to engage in as some defiance to political correctness. Whereby some are obsessed with pushing the envelope on how far they can take insults, baiting and prodding. But in some cases as free as one is to do this...I have no sympathy for them when they get what they begging for.

Cleveland - Mistake by the Lake.

This is why I am frightful of where sports are heading, or at least the idiotic fans.

"..heading.."?? It's been worse in the past.

WTF, LeBron doesnt even root for the Indians!!!

coincidentally, he roots for the team the Indians were playin on that night!
Why werent those stupid fans consernd with the game on the baseball field & not some dude with a basketball jersey in Jacobs field watchin a team LeBron roots for??

I understand it must be a dump, but brother, Philladelphia and Oakland are right up there as well. :1orglaugh Man, you go to a Raiders game and you might not leave that place alive.

It has been years since I lived in Ohio..but I grew up 70 miles from Cleveland. The area known as The Flats, which is right on the Cuyahoga river, used to be a pretty run down place with a lot of warehouses and abandoned building. And yes the river did catch on fire once from all the toxins that the local industries were pumping into it. The area was reinvented and revamped sometime in the 80's I believe....the river was cleaned up, and now there are quite a few eating, drinking, and shopping establishments there.

As a fan of Cleveland's sports teams I can understand why people got upset seeing the shirt the dude was wearing. However as I get longer in the tooth so to speak, I am able to see how things fit into the grand scheme of things. That coupled with my belief of that it is the individual who empowers something to let it fuck with him....if I don't give it no gas to bother me....it won't!! :2 cents:
