Magic the Gathering

I do...:shy::dunno:

I believe there's 3 or four! :) And Xbox360 one that I like, MTG: Battlegrounds for PC (and PS2 I THINK, don't quote me there), and an old school one for PSX that I can't remember the name of. I also think there was one for a portable system but I could be wrong.

And I play, but I stopped getting cards after they changed the card layout. But I used to play in tournaments twice a week. It's a lot of fun! :D

give me your cards, :)

Vintage format only can play those cards now, unless you wanna play a casual game, anything goes. The game is meant to make money, just like any other hobby out there, not a rip off, if u choose to pay for it and you have the funds, why not? The game has evolved, I think it's better and picking up with more popularity more now then ever.

I never played anything but casual with a large group of people I knew that also played that way. The whole tournament aspects of it never interested me.

As far as it being a "rip off", in my opinion it was because I began thinking that the fun I was having from it was poor value on the dollar with how much it was starting to cost. It just wasn't worth it me. It was a interesting fad game for a while, but it just wasn't worth it to continue. If it was a lot cheaper I might have continued with it, but the cost of way overpriced pieces of cardboard that they also tried to sell off as collectibles ruined it for me. Screwing around trying to get things like a certain amount of the same rares just to make some decks work was also too much of a pain in the ass and lead to my souring outlook of the game.

I could get almost as much fun out of some video games for a fraction of the price even if the hours of entertainment were shorter overall, and buying a few books for a table top RPG was even a lot better yet for a fraction of the cost and the amount of things you could do with them was almost unlimited.

If it's still worth it for other people and they don't mind giving out all that money for it then more power to them. I hope they enjoy the game.

Now, more than ever, tournaments all over the nation are holding competitive events, more people are getting serious about the game. When people are traveling and the payouts are in the thousands, it's worth it. I agree it's just out of this world a cardboard card is even worth into the hundred of thousands of dollars. It's for some people and it isn't. It depends how competitive you wanna get and how serious you are if you wanna jump into the tournament scene.

im supposed to have a free starter deck given to me from my tabletop rpg group.

apparently, the magic people sponsor the group and gave us some free decks.

i cant wait to finally own some cards. (although i have no idea how to play).

I played on the 10 July 2010 the pre-release of M11. Then a draft on the 16th July 2010. I think I played around 4 times in the comic store, unfortunately I was pretty busy with other things, but they were a good set of players. It was fun, I then played the New Phyrexia release on the 7th May 2011. That was the last time I played. I played a little of it online, and also own the Xbox 360 version (which is good for beginners) But once you grasp the basics I would suggest looking for a local club or comic shop that plays the official games, its a lot better imho.
