What does social security do for you anyway? Is it like pensions or something over in Europe?
You know it is a hot issue that should be addressed. Now granting legal status to everyone from Obama's perspective, from any politicians perspective, even in the democrats corner. I'd imagine is political suicide....The right wing republicans would be all over it like shit to a stick, probably a non-popular move among his supporters even.
And a reason I think a lot of irish people and others are still considered illegals....But would it not be better to tax such people, as in get their social contributions.....Now I understand perfectly that you can't just single out a group of people and give them amnesty while others do not receive it.
So I propose that the government creates an exam similar to citizenship entry exams and shit.....With the express goal to temporarily allow abode in the US(they are there already) hence able to contribute to social security.
This way you would not be.....How should I put it, Be threatened by the non-speaking foreign hordes....They'd have to have a good understanding of English and your laws among other things* etc.....In order to pass this test. Or a willingness to learn, And basically when in rome do as the romans do.
They contribute to society, they get to stay in America, everybody wins. People that don't pass the test or even attempt to fulfill criteria for temporary status get kicked out....That way you remove the cliche's, Some must exist.
This then could be put into review where folks could get full citizenship determined by many factors such as employment, any incidence of crime etc. Whole thing seems very reasonable and fair to me. You really aren't going to be able to just kick masses of people out.
*Right wingers usual argument.
