****** Listening

5/10 only because it reminds me of the Vietnam vets I work with and it seems like a song that would be played during the back at base chill time. However I do not see where death metal is applied. Which loses a lot due to nothing heavy or metal/orchestral came from it. Ah well. Good song for what I heard. Just misleading for name of band and odd song title. Can't ****, but not gonna score high due to band name is complete off due to a title track being Spanish and reminds me of a old 1960s protest song for Vietnam. It's desultory at best. I hope I did this right...

Here is my song. A rap song. I'm gonna get flak I'm sure but whatever, switch it up a bit.

There's a story behind the name of the band. Apparently the two main members were riding in a car with a friend who was listening to Vader. Upon being asked what it was, the friend said "It's death metal". Not impressed, the drummer (Josh Homme) said that Vader were like "The Eagles" of death metal. Apparently they thought it was a good name :dunno: As for your song...

4/10. I'm not gonna give you flak simply because it's rap, but I don't really care for "the gangsta ****" if you know what I mean. I like some old school stuff, but I just can't bring myself to enjoy the stuff that's literally filled with guns going off.

Now, in honor of St. Patrick...

6/10. A little soft for my normal tastes, but I'll give it a 6 because it's obviously not a bad song, just not my cup of tea.

5/10 Not a big fan of music when lyrics aren't clearly heard but the sound wasn't terrible.

Sludge Factory by the real Alice in Chains not todays AIC without Layne.

7/10 i love alice and chains. the REAL alice in chains, and this video reminds me of when mtv was about music... and some pretty cool shows. (the state, the maxx, dead at 21...) but its not a real fav song of mine, especially unplugged.

5/10 it came across to me like zack de la rocha wrote a song for nickleback, which wouldnt be too bad. i support the idea of the song, but it seemed kind a bit too stagnant musically. "word association" made me listen to this

7/10 = I recall hearing this band way back when. I enjoy the heavy to soft; heavy to melodic, and so on and so forth. Good times. Takes me back.

Here is mine:

In This Moment: The *** Show

3/10... I can't stand when guitarists tune down to drop C (or lower) and then just go "dun dun dun....dun dun dun... dun dun dun... dun dun dun.... SQUEAL!!!!!" while the singer just screams the entire verse of a song. Its just so lazy. I'd heard about this band a few times but never checked 'em out :dunno:

i **** to comment without a video. the real alice in chains? it's not the bands fault the guy couldn't kick a bad habit! they tried but he wanted to get high instead of live and make music. they had to move on after he died. i miss him but the latest release is pretty awesome-yes no layne but that album is pretty fucking good- give a shot!

5/10 Would probably be an awesome song to listen to high but I'm not right now.

Yes lets not highjack the thread like the OP asked us not to. But I will say this and leave it alone. When I say real AIC I say it because Laynes voice was so powerful that it isn't truly Alice in Chains without him. Now that doesn't mean Jerry doesn't have talent because he is an amazing guitar player and lyricist which is why I believe he and the rest of the band could have created a new band and been just fine instead of using the AIC name when its not truly AIC without Layne.

^ Discussion about the bands posted here is absolutely fine with me, so long as it doesn't turn into a flame war (which it certainly wasn't with the AIC stuff) and as long as we keep the ratings/vids going.

As for TOOL...
7/10. I've never really given them a real chance. I don't dislike what I've heard from them by any means, but I was never really grabbed by it either. I liked the song, and I might have to check out more. I hear Adam Jones is a great guitarist.

5/10

It is abrasive and as if my dishes and silverware in the kitchen fell down continuously along with the added screaming *****. I however enjoyed the beginning and melodies until the vocals came in. The instrumental part of this song is all I enjoy.

Here is mine. Crossfade: Cold

6/10 -- Mainly due to I have grown up and got past the whole world is against me and self-hatred attitude I never really grasped onto yet still went through that phase. I like Korn's earlier works still. I just can't get into the whole frivolous self-hatred genre with the same band that been singing the same old tune for going on twenty years now. Find a new theme. Your original fans are adults now and you have still teenagers/young adults following you, allow them to see some kind of band metamorphism; in other words: Reinvent yourself and stop acting like a pussy wearing a kilt and playing bagpipes while whining lyrics how you are a ******.

Yet I still listen to the first four Korn albums. I just wish they would find something new.

Here is a oldie but goodie:

Patti Page -- Tennessee Waltz (So lovely)

That is from one of Korns earlier albums. It has nothing to do with the "whole world is against me" or "self hatred". That song in particular is about being taken advantage of by an individual and I think a lot of people can relate regardless of age, if you can't then I envy you. Imo a lot of bands move away from their roots and sound like ****. Like Staind for example but thankfully they learned and went back to their roots in their latest album.

2/10 She is pretty but definitely not my type of music.

10/10 for your song... No. It is from the Take a Look in the Mirror album from 2003 via their fifth album. I stopped caring after Issues. Their earlier works I mentioned being the first four albums.

I consider earlier albums anything pre See You on the Other Side. Thats when their sound kinda changed. Still one of their best songs imo but to each their own.

3/10 Don't really like the sound too much.

5/10... I've never been a big fan of that type of stuff. "Cheese Rock", as I've come to call it. Good in small doses on a [NOBABE]rainy day[/NOBABE], but I could never listen to it for more than a song or two.
