Life without electricity

Been without power not that long ago when we had a half power cut (little power left so a light or two could go on) and i just shoved my ipod on and messed about with my mobile.

So I got home tonight to find the power out on my entire block. There was no electricity so that meant no computer, no Internet, no TV, no anything that runs on electricity which is practically everything nowadays. The power was out for close to two hours and I did nothing but sit in the dark trying to read a book by candlelight just to pass the time. So my question is could you live a significant period of time without the TV, without the Internet and without the Computer? I know that I could not do such a thing because I don't know what I would do.

Shocking!

The first day or week wouldn't be so bad for me because, as you know, I'm a tin foil hatter, I'm equipped to go for 3 months w/out power . . . yup, I have the propane tanks, the non perishable foods, water, .45ACP, a bajillion batteries for various high intensity led flashlights and radios etc etc.

It's really is amazing the things and people we take for granted on a day to day basis, ''loved ones'' in particular, when you see certain people that are important to you in your everyday life, you might as well almost hate them at times, but when they pass away or go away for good for whatever reason, that's when we get our asses kicked. . . the human condition I guess.

Sometimes it's a good exercise to just sit still and quietly, maybe contemplate the stars . . whatever, but just think about everything, this is how I would spend my first few hours.

It will happen some day. without an alternate to Oil we are in for a hell of a time.

Wouldn't it be interesting if there was a world wide power outage? People would be in a panic, they wouldn't know what to do. Part of me actually wishes for one. I myself am overly dependent on electricity.

Level 3 fire alarm?

When I attack the entire grid and it multiplies into other grids, so I have all the power? Can't really be done unless you have a good team of crackers with a few hackers. Would be cool though because I love hackers/crackers when they break into cocky systems where the people were so arrogant.

There's a guy in the UK who cracked into the U.S. system and did something, but I can't remember it. They're trying to get him extrodited I think you call it to the U.S. for trial.

I would think it would be impossible to take down every last bit of electricity since hackers/crackers have their own generators most of the time and farms run off their own generators. I think businesses could last a little while without a main circuit.

Some cars don't need oil at all jackncoke. They are the non traditional cars of America so I think people would rather start a war than drive something more efficient.

There was a blackout here too a few minutes ago. No electricity for about an hour!

My laptop just turned off while I was on Free...uhm...:rubbel:...Ones! :crash:

Good thing I was tired so I just took a nap while waiting for the power to turn on again! :D

But I'm glad it wasn't longer than one hour! Imagine to be without a working fridge in that heat!

Depends on how long it lasts. I've only ever known 2 electricity blackouts in my life that lasted mere hours so we just use candles and wait. For longer periods your survival instinct will kick in and you'll adapt, people used little electricity 30-40 years ago and they seemed far more happier than we are today :dunno:
