Life without electricity

So I got home tonight to find the power out on my entire block. There was no electricity so that meant no computer, no Internet, no TV, no anything that runs on electricity which is practically everything nowadays. The power was out for close to two hours and I did nothing but sit in the dark trying to read a book by candlelight just to pass the time. So my question is could you live a significant period of time without the TV, without the Internet and without the Computer? I know that I could not do such a thing because I don't know what I would do.

Just go outside and run or something. I have lived without electricity a long time and just did it recently where I had only lights and even lights aren't that important.

Wouldn't it be interesting if there was a world wide power outage? People would be in a panic, they wouldn't know what to do. Part of me actually wishes for one. I myself am overly dependent on electricity.

We'd go ape shit for a bit and then we'd amend our behavior as we've done for the last 250,000 years.

ive done it a few times, going a whole week without power while camping. its actually kind of fun, lets you clear your mind and take on that primal feeling

Ok I'll take a run and then what? After a while you would have to do something for entertainment because taking a run or something would get boring real fast.

A few years back, I ran into a little hard time and was without electricity for three weeks, no gas for two months. I do appreciate the "little things" that make our lives easier.
I am grateful that things are better.

Exactly, and it would also possibly help weed out the species.

I've had to go without it on a few occasions, and it really wasn't a big deal.Once the reality of it being off for awhile sets in,it's actually not so bad-even at night.

I have the essentials:A guitar,a blues harp,a lighter,candles,and booze.

Several years back I was without power for 3 days during the winter in Seattle when power lines had gone down. There were people that were without power for over a week. Stayed under the blankets most of the time as it was too cold to walk around, even bundled up. Luckily I had a gas stove, water heater, etc....

I've been without electricity for about 15 years now. I just have the ability to post on here mentally. Definitely easier on the wallet this way

I wish they'd turn the electricity off in my neighborhood. These cables I have hooked up to my balls are really starting to hurt.

I have gone without power for extended periods. You really start to realize your dependenc e on certain things when the power goes out.
