I think he's hilarious myself. Defiantly one of my favorites, I guess you either get his humor, or you don't. I live in Cleveland, I know better then to be a Browns fan!

Hicks quit drinking, quit taking drugs and quit smoking for awhile. So, he wasn't self-destructive.

I shouldn't have said "destructive". I should have said deprecating. It was like he was depressed, and it showed. Don't get me wrong, he was (is) one of my all time favorites, I just hated the way he changed.

Also, after touring America for so long, he wasn't respected.
Like he was in Europe.
He said after one of his sets he was confronted and told, "We don't come to a comedy show to think". (In America, UFO tour)

If you all enjoy Lewis Black and the late/great Bill Hicks on DVD and the ryko-disc rereleased CDs as I and many others do, you should also get the DVDs and CDs of Doug Stanhope.
Fabulous darkly comedic material and comedy sets. He buries the many hacks out there in the stand up comed world. I feel it's an art form, and his stuff most certianly isn't for everybody, but it does has it's place and he's highly underrated.
