You almost have a decent retort here. Even though you still do not demonstrate a glimmer of independent thought, I would commend you on so carefully selecting such relevant thoughts from others were it not for the fact that you completely missed my point (which is not, you know, the least bit surprising).

Since you missed it in my previous post, I will restate it:

My position is that while I believe the 2nd Amendment does in fact protect the right of responsible, law-abiding citizens to own guns as a means of protecting themselves and their families, this does not mean that there should be no restrictions on their sale and use, especially when you consider how anachronistic the article is and the fact that the one stated condition in the text itself is that the situation should be "well regulated."

So while some people think the only important part of the article is the first clause, and some people think only the second clause is important, I think both clauses matter and that the article should be interpreted in its entirety.

-What point would there be to inserting the non-business end?

-Why 12 gauge? Wouldn't a 20 gauge get the job done?

-What difference would it make if someone sucked on the barrel, as long as it's in their mouth when the trigger is pulled?

-If one is holding the shotgun in their mouth, wouldn't they be pushing the trigger, not pulling it?

I understand the need for licensed guns and such, but why the need for overkill weapons? When the 2nd Amendment was instituted there weren't anything like assault weapons around. There will be renewed proposals for another AWB in Congress, and I'm all for it this time.

Sure, a 9mm or a shotgun would be sufficient for home defense against home invasion but the founding fathers instituted the 2nd Amendment not for protection against individual criminals but for protection against the government itself.

They knew human history all too well. All governments trend towards tyranny if left unchecked.
