JOB SECURITY & looking for work problem

Back in 1999 I was looking for work as a folder/cutter operator... I interviewed at a small/med printing company in Calif.. I had 20 years experience and was asked one question that was really the most important one..

IT WAS...

HOW LITTLE WILL YOU WORK FOR ?

I answered in a application wage depended on benefits. I usually answered with a low number with that stmt on most applications.
\When mrs so and so company owner asked the question i was startled a bit but thought this was so simple direct and to the point...
Any one had an interview with this type of direct question...

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
Once. The company I work for now, that I worked for previously, but left when ownership changed hands, called me up, after they started a new company. I was working at the time, doing okay, but they had a driver walk out without notice, and they were in a bad situation, and as the interview wound down, my now boss, who was my boss at the old company just came right out and asked me what it's gonna take to get me onboard. Only difference is, I shot high, and then worked with his counter offer.

Once I got "How much of your soul can I have for $ ___?

I was young and scrappy, and I offered mine and what others I could find on my way to the offer letter.

difference is they said how little NOT what it would take.. As chance had it i ran into a fellow person who i used to work for who was lazy and did not want to do his menial job and was a pain in the ass.. He figured out a way to punch in and get an hours pay w out being there. He would punch in legetamitly at 7.58 and using tape block out the 58.. Then at 8.02 he would punch in and get and false punch in at 7.02 using tape to cover the 8.. Ingenious

peeps got suspicious w the double punch in stuff.. I did not want to demean a current employee as an interviewee nor did they ask if he was a good worker only that we had worked together at same company before. I really wanted to unload but i would let them find by themselves if he was still uncooperative employee.

another time i was looking for a job as a job was going out of bus and the first cutter got laid off. The new place said he had interviewed and there was a pregnant pause as they assumed i would unload on him.. I stayed quiet figured since i was not laid off first there was a reason i was kept around for another month. I wanted to give 2 weeks notice but this place wanted me to screw over a good boss / friend i worked at for a few times over years.

Companies **** it when you leave w o notice and do not have a problem aSKING YOU TO START IMMEDIATLY AND screw over a former boss.. hypocrites
