It's no different than the countless aspiring singers, or actresses or any variety of marginally talented dipshits who seek fame and fortune in Hollywood like they're entitled to it. Porn's just a little more direct and artless about it - sex sells, and porn IS sex. No narrative or musical substance to redeem it as something more. And perhaps a little harsher to accept that you were just used for sex, and that's it.
And that's fine, if you know what your getting into. And Rogers clearly didn't. Because theirs a couple types that get into porn.
1. The "Pleaser" - "We accept the love we think we deserve". And girls like Rogers most likely don't know what non-sexual attention feels like because she never got it, or enough of it from a father figure. So they "take what they can get" which is sexual attention, and leave it at that. They can make for great scenes on film, sometimes give the best head and genuine intimacy on film or not. But they are literally and figuratively going to leave fucking on film with a bad taste in their mouth.
2. The Business Woman - You see this alot in the black actresses. They know what they're job is - and that's their body. See; Pinky, etc. Problem is those girls don't open up for the camera, and unless youre really into their appearence, or too young and horny to give a shit - it get's old, and feels like your watching a hooker fuck for money "No kissin'!", etc. Exception to that rule being someon like Jenna Haze - She's petite enough (and one of the only girls I can think of who's body (ass) got better with time?) that her attitude feels naughty, and not aggressive. In fact I've heard her say point blank "My body is my business" - she get's it.
3. The Narcissist - See; Jasmin St. Claire, Jenna Jameson or Kim Kardashian. Narc's seek attention. And porn gives it to you. It's acting and music without the reward, art and communication - just straight voyeurism and spectacle. Great if you like to watch (all of us) or be watched (some of us). Just don't expect the Narc to be grateful because they're pathologically self centered, grandiose, obsessed with appearances and ultimately feel above it. St. Claire was the best example because she could scarcely hide her contempt and grandiosity on film half the time (which can be kind of hot granted). Whereas Jameson, ever the pro - played the 'good girl' role of porn like another consumate 'pro' - Tom Cruise did in Hollywood. Both Narcs, but dedicated to hiding their selfishness behind a veneer of "____ next door" vibe. These are the phoniest of the phonys - an entire life dedicated to the perception of them that is something they are most definitely not. And as of recent both masks have begun to crack under increased behind the scenes coverage of Jameson via Couples Therapy and Cruise via the before, durings and afters of Katie Holmes. Kardashian of course was the most cunning of all by "accidentally" becoming a porn star inspiring countless others to ape her angle to little success.
4. The Adventurer - More often than not this is that scorching dream like "one and done'r" you fell in love with never to be heard from again. (Tiffany Hunter I still love you!) Tori Black is a bit like that - sweet girl looking for a life. Make no mistake - many porn girls aren't like 1., and get into it for the adventure and easy money - but for the most part this doesn't last and income becomes the motivating factor. Sooner or later fucking all the time's going to get a little stale - hence pornstar 'retirement'. Just once I'd like to hear 'sabbatical' or 'indefinite hiatus', but they don't get paid for their thoughtfulness I suppose.
As for the reasons? Money and Attention - that's why porn appeals to he women we watch in them.
So with all that being said. I haven't seen Rogers post porn footage in a while and don't remember anything about it. But she was certainly a 1. She literally got chopped up by the industry. And whilst that is dissapointing, it's also typical as I'm losing count of the amount of favorites I've seen get botched up surgeries. But she made that choice. If anybody is a good advisor for the industry it's Nina Hartley, and her's would be "Know what you're getting into". Rogers didn't. But not taking responsibility for your choices is annoying.
Anyways. Take any porn girl and her motivations are some combination of the above. It's just the #1's that always seem to become the anti-porn activists. And it's no coincidence that none of them are terribly bright. I'm looking at you Crissy Moran.
