ITUNES Help

I'm not the most technical person in the world- so please bare with me. I have an Ipod Touch 5 which I love, and I want to fill it up with music- but I can't figure this **** out. I downloaded the most current version of Itunes. All I want to do is drop and drag my files into whatever f ***ing page in ITUNES - and then "sync" (whatever that means) it into my IPOD- and THATS IT. WTF. I'm totally lost- my files don't drag in. There are so many different folders and options to go into. Oh, and then I somehow downloaded a 500 song 80's file last week- now that I dropped and dragged, and somehow it worked. Today, I went back into Itunes to delete some old videos- then- I clicked on something- and I LOST all 500 songs. WTF did I do? Why can't I drop and drag, and be done with it?? Is there a laymen's guide to dowloading songs - and into what file in ITUNES?. Can someone walk me through the basics? This is such BS. Why cant they make this **** easy. I'm just frustrated.

Revert back to iTunes 10.7. I downloaded the newer version and was totally lost so I had to go back to the version I know. There didn't seem to be a drag and drop way of doing things like in the past so I'll stay "old school" with the tried and true version:thumbsup:

again let me preface I am a newbie to gadgets..as well as Itunes 11.. all I am trying to do is a drag MP3 files I downloaded somewhere in Itunes. I tried dragging it into Songs, and all the folders under the Playlists tab:
Genius
90's Music
Classical Music
My Top Rated
Recently Added (these are where my 500 songs are, and they're all checked)
Recently Played
Top 25 Most Played
Playlists
- it's not letting it in!!!. Why? Also, how did I lose all 500 songs? Luckily I was able to find that file and re-download it. Something about my library. I don't understand this syncing. I only want to sync new songs in to my IPOD. It seems like it wants to sync everything again. Also, why do all my songs in the Songs folder have check marks? Why can't I drop and drag in peace without fear of losing anything? HELP?

forget Itunes,. DL program utorent , an old version prior to 2.3, then find anything you want on kick ass torents and grab it..........and dont forget to seed.

i do know of them, but my question is where do I drag it into ITunes (v. 11) specifically, so it syncs into my IPOD? if you see my thread above, it's not letting me. I actually go to MP3Skull.com for individual songs.

do I need to convert the MP3 to the Ipod format (MP4) before I drag it in? What are some good online converters?

You shouldn't need to convert the MP3's just drag them into the iTunes windows or select 'Add Folder to Library' and they should appear in your iTunes library.
Also to avoid iTunes wiping your iPod during syncs I chose to select 'Manually Manage iPod' on the iPod settings then when you drag MP3's onto it, it wont wipe it or mess with whatever is on there already.
