It's your birthday, so you expect....

On your birthday, do you expect from your girlfriend/wife/lover: nothing, a verbal "Happy Birthday", a small present, a large present, or something other.

I admit, I want, above all, the day to be out of the ordinary, and not entirely because of my own effort. I want to look back at the end of the day and at least see that it was different than the day before and not routine. I expect a "H.B", and a thoughtful present.

This one's a touchy subject for me..... opposite viewpoints on this one.... What do you think?

(Sex is too easy a present, it doesn't count in this poll! )

Actually, my birthdays have turned out to have poor events tied to them.
So I actually prefer nothing, or just a cuddling session really makes all-the-difference.

I stand by it - I think it should be a special day (and I make other people's b-days special too.) A well considered gift, regardless of price, really is nice to get. But, again, I just expect and want the day to be different than the normal day before...

Well I've always had a problem with my birthday, it's six days after christmas. Or just to make it exact New Years Eve so no ones ever made a fuss about it. As their usually still getting over christmas and more bothered about New Years.

I don't really expect anything. I usually buy myself what I want, or buy her what she wants. If she gets me something small or unique to what I enjoy, in terms of hobbies, then it is greatly appreciated. But after the years add up, it's not required.
