All in all, do you think that things in the nation(U.S.) are generally headed in the right direction, or do you feel that things are off on the wrong track?

Wrong direction : but its not a recent phenomenon

Do you vote?
I often do, without much enthusiasm. In the US, there is basically one party - the business party. It has two factions, called Democrats and Republicans, which are somewhat different but carry out variations on the same policies. By and large, I am opposed to those policies. As is most of the population.

Are we all doomed?
If there was an observer on Mars, they would probably be amazed that we have survived this long. There are two problems for our species' survival - nuclear war and environmental catastrophe - and we're hurtling towards them. Knowingly. This hypothetical Martian would probably conclude that human beings were an evolutionary erro

I think our election system is flawed. I think Congress, no matter the political party in charge, is on its knees too much in front of China. I think the Constitution is a flawed document in today's contemporary world.

Add all that up--I don't know if we're headed in the right direction.

What Country? Oh you mean the one everybody hates including half the fuckers that live there. The one that leads 99-1 in lets bash this country threads, because the rest of the world is so fucking perfect or would be if it wasn't for that one fuckin country.

Or are you talking about Canada?

Going after the terrorists who attacked our country (as opposed to some nation building agenda), investing in our own country's infrastructure for a change and trying to ensure we join the rest of the developed world in ensuring we provide basic health care for our citizens is the right direction IMO.

Going into debt to grant tax cuts for those who more than likely just sock it away for another boat, island or foreign bank account, chasing despots in some desert for Israel and exploiting terrorism to spy on your political opposition was the wrong direction IMO.

wrong direction but really no direction, too much polarization is occurring and causing a stagnation of progress, we need to end the endless election cycle

Yes, listen to that lover of fatties

The $100billion that will be spent on these fooking useless elections could be better spent!

anyone who thinks it's headed anyhwere near 'right' is misguided at best and not in this hemisphere at worst. as the human population grows across the globe this will only exponentially grow.

between the degenerate valued people breeding like theres no tomorrow and the vampire succubus government that keeps them breeding at the cost of decent valued working people who don't have time to reproduce or raise a family because of the overwhelming burden forced on them I would say its a cycle that has and will only get worse.

thats ridiculous.
so its the fact that people who earn a lot of money don;t get enough of it robbed from them that is hurting the economy?
not the fact that about 30% of the working age population pays nothing, contributes nothing but seems to live just fine on other peoples dimes?
not the fact of an enormous government that needs so much money to function and wastes more than half of what it takes in just on processing it alone, then wastes most of whats left..
ok, yeah its because there arent enough taxes.
seriously, are you a socialist?

Unfortunately there are all kinds of cycles in our country that sap public funds. Social welfare programs are but one.

By comparison though, the amounts of money used in social welfare are paltry in relationship to the welfare/subsidy systems that sap money for useless/obsolete defense contracts and other g'ment projects.:2 cents:

Where ever there is money for "programs" there is a system which exploits it.

Haliburton has sapped more money out of the Iraq feeding trough over the past 7 years than the combined amount of waste, fraud and abuse in social welfare over the past 25 years.:2 cents:

Where's the \:mad:/ for that? I know, "that's different".:1orglaugh

In terms of waste, fraud and abuse...it's not even close.

How can anyone ask "Is this country headed in the right direction"?

This country is being led by Hope, Change, and Yes We Can.

Good point. I completely agree we're headed in the right direction then.

A far cry from fear, baiting and duplicity.
