All in all, do you think that things in the nation(U.S.) are generally headed in the right direction, or do you feel that things are off on the wrong track?
Do you vote?
I often do, without much enthusiasm. In the US, there is basically one party - the business party. It has two factions, called Democrats and Republicans, which are somewhat different but carry out variations on the same policies. By and large, I am opposed to those policies. As is most of the population.
Are we all doomed?
If there was an observer on Mars, they would probably be amazed that we have survived this long. There are two problems for our species' survival - nuclear war and environmental catastrophe - and we're hurtling towards them. Knowingly. This hypothetical Martian would probably conclude that human beings were an evolutionary erro
Or are you talking about Canada?
The quality of this thread has instantly gone up now that Canada has been mentioned.
Going after the terrorists who attacked our country (as opposed to some nation building agenda), investing in our own country's infrastructure for a change and trying to ensure we join the rest of the developed world in ensuring we provide basic health care for our citizens is the right direction IMO.
Going into debt to grant tax cuts for those who more than likely just sock it away for another boat, island or foreign bank account, chasing despots in some desert for Israel and exploiting terrorism to spy on your political opposition was the wrong direction IMO.
between the degenerate valued people breeding like theres no tomorrow and the vampire succubus government that keeps them breeding at the cost of decent valued working people who don't have time to reproduce or raise a family because of the overwhelming burden forced on them I would say its a cycle that has and will only get worse.
bye bye miss american pie. :wave2:
Unfortunately there are all kinds of cycles in our country that sap public funds. Social welfare programs are but one.
By comparison though, the amounts of money used in social welfare are paltry in relationship to the welfare/subsidy systems that sap money for useless/obsolete defense contracts and other g'ment projects.:2 cents:
Where ever there is money for "programs" there is a system which exploits it.
Haliburton has sapped more money out of the Iraq feeding trough over the past 7 years than the combined amount of waste, fraud and abuse in social welfare over the past 25 years.:2 cents:
Where's the \/ for that? I know, "that's different".:1orglaugh
haliburton has sapped more money out of the taxpayers than has the millions and millions of people who live of the system?
man thats a lot of sapping.
I still despise life long welfare folks more.....they cost the country serious dough.
How can anyone ask "Is this country headed in the right direction"?
This country is being led by Hope, Change, and Yes We Can.
I think the Constitution is a flawed document in today's contemporary world.
