What? The women´s game is almost only about power, and has been so pretty much since Martina Hingis quit playing. The only top players i can think of that uses technique and trickery to win matches are Radwanska and Schiavone.

no no, you will notice women are more accurate with their shots due to lack of power. they volley much longer. with men, the shot gets by them through speed more as a factor, with women its more based on technique. which is the appeal to me.

This. Though a few more players can also play.

That was not the point being made. Of course male players hit the ball harder...but what was meant is that for a female player to be better than another female she would have to hit the ball harder than her opponent...THAT'S ALL she has to do. The point being made is that female tennis players lack skill all-round compared to the men.

How many female tennis players play drops shots? Lobs? slice fore-hands and back-hands on a regular basis? Not many....Besides pretty much EVERY pundit agrees the women's game needs much improvement.

Serena Williams has won 13 Grand Slams (@ the moment) despite only playing when she feels like it and even admitting this. For every male player to compete they need to be playing all year round and the top players all love the sport.

Kim Clijsters won the 2009 US Open despite retiring for two years earlier whilst being pregnant...NO WAY can a male player win a grand slam after coming back from retirement after two years.

Oh, and Roger Federer is the greatest player of his era @ least (maybe GOAT too, as he's won the most majors....records speak for themselves).

But the way Djokovic is going...if nobody stops him soon...that title may go to him.

Rod Laver, Bjorn Borg, John McEnroe, Jimmy Connors, Pete Sampras, Ivan Lendl, and Andre Agassi were all pretty good.

Currently, I like the Spaniard, Rafael Nadal. Although that Serbian, Novak Djokovic is ranked number one in the world.

No, he isn't the greatest ever.
Like Nadal, he seems to throw a fit when he wins and pulls a face full of anger & pleasure.
Weird. Perhaps he gets off on it?!

"I WON! I WON! COME ON! YEAH!"

And I can just imagine a little puppet sat in the crowd, looking around in wonder and excitement. :surprise: As everyone cheers and roars with support for Federer, the puppet shouts his own name and his small but loud voice can be heard rising from the sideline.

"MATT DAMON!"

Yes, in terms of achievement Federer is the greatest. No dispute about that. And I don't believe Nadal can surpass Federer. Djokvovic will prevent Nadal from winning more slams.

But who will stop Djokovic?
Federer. Every now and then. And also age, Djokovic will get old before he even reaches Nadals achievements.

Federer. Every now and then...

Yes you're right, Federer can only do it now and again...if it was not for Federer, Djokovic would've won THE grand slam (winning all four majors in a single calendar year).

...And also age, Djokovic will get old before he even reaches Nadals achievements.

How old is 'old'? Djokovic currently stands with 5 grand slams under his belt. Nadal has 10...Djokovic won three grand slams last year and has already won one this year...who is to say he can't win another three this year? Or even achieve the "Golden Slam" (winning all four Grand Slam singles tournaments and the singles gold medal in the London Olympics)?

Is anybody familiar with the tv show 'Deadliest Warrior'? Wouldn't it be cool to apply that tech to sports. It wouldn't determine anything, but it would be fun to see who would win head to head. Federer vs Borg. Tyson vs Ali. etc.

...if it was not for Federer, Djokovic would've won THE grand slam
Ahhhh the 'what ifs'. He could've would've should've won it!! heheh

I'll believe it when I see it. Otherwise it's just another prediction. Remember people predicted Nadal would dominate Tennis? Well, who knew Djokovic would come along. And you have to remember that Federer is nothing short of a FREAK being able to maintain at this level for so long, without injuries or rivalries until Nadal came along.

Yeah but Djokovic was waiting in the wings.

True. Some are now predicting Andy Murray will be the foil for Djokovic that Nadal was for Federer...but as you said, "I'll believe it when I see it". Uh, well. Only time will tell...

Before 2007, Rafa was too young or much a clay specialist to be a real challenge for Roger on any other type of tennis court so Roger had very few real challanger since Safin, Hewitt or Roddick weren't good enough to be dangerous for him.
Samparas may not won as many tournaments as Roger did but he had many stronger challengers : Edberg, Borg, Courrier, Connors, McEnroe, Becker, Lendl, Noah...

To me, Sampras is still the #1 of all time

Yes, but he has a great deal of competition in that regard. Jimmy Connors, Andre Agassi, Bjorn Borg many of those come to mind. Like Jimmie Johnson in NASCAR Racing, he is considered the greatest of this era, the era we live in now but of all time? Thats yet to be determined on both fronts. R-Fed has a lot of years left, hell he could retire now and still be considered pretty good but I know he wants more and he will get there in time.

I reckon this guy will be the next Roger. People seem to under-estimate Monfils.. he's a clown too hehe :1orglaugh
