A few reasons he might like hentai...

1. the characters are, like Nightfly already said, with certain childish characteristics, which apparently attract a number of men (I'd rather have them watch Hentai than do something else)
2. The setting most Hentai movies are set in, which is mostly either a futuristic world with aliens or a fantasy world with demons & whatever (although this is not always the case), in which the girls in question are, indeed, *****/******. (the good guys nearly always win & even though the victims were ****** it nearly never leaves a lasting effect)
3. Things that nearly never happen in real life are quite common in hentai movies (breasts popping out of clothes, etc)

In other words, it fullfills a (dark) fantasy that quite a lot of men have, without actually harming another living being.

Is it wrong? Depends on who you ask. I myself don't really see anything wrong with it, as long as it stays limited to cartoon characters (heck, I admit I've watched some hentai movies myself).

I think most of it is a laugh riot. I'm interested in it because it's totally different than "normal" porn. Also no one is hurt, no one can catch an STD. It's a way to live out a fantasy. I don't think it's any sicker than a Foxilipsus/Miss Brittany movie would be.

I think a debate about Japanese people has been made out of thin air. We were talking about this genre of cartoons/porn and the threadstarter indicated a concern about the "young" trend in it, and I agreed and said it often does seem to tread that line where sex appeal is used in the art and the characters look to be ********.

I've never seen an anime flick, porn or otherwise, where the women were not made to look childish/********* yet VERY sexual, visually. This has nothing to do with criticising Japanese people, but rather that particular niche or genre of film/comic art. To "Westerners," some Japanese adults might look younger or somewhat "*****-like," but not nearly or anything similar to how *****-like the characters are often (or usually) drawn in anime/manga.

I once read something about anime and why the "people" in it are drawn with such exaggerated/inflated eye sizes. The article said that the Asian artists did this for a couple of reasons - to romanticise the characters and also to try to appeal to non-Asian consumers (marketing!) and it just sort of "stuck" in the genre.
