*Is Free Speech Dead ?*

I don't think that there ever was the promise of "free speech" on the board, just as there is in practice not in real life.

I remember a **** sympathiser last year that was ******, I remember a ********** too... No one cried "damn mods", or "power hungry mods" when they were ******. There are rules, simple really, that are in place to keep the board productive and civil. When a member continuously ******** these rules, consequences occur. I think that temporary bans can be effective, but not when the behavior keeps occurring.

I am offeneded by "Reptile"'s post two up - so should all of you.

I can speak only for myself when I say that the daily flow of Reported Posts reads very often like a childs report card or game. He called me this, or I don't like this guy... There are plenty of members here that I find offensive and degrading towards women (and more), but so what?!

I think that the board, the interenet in general, has a very bad case of "last word" syndrome. I could not careless if someone calls me an asshole or what ever on the board, I feel no need to respond at all. I cannot even imagine getting so worked up about an issue here that I need to call someone a name.

Ignoring a comment works very well. This is really not a university deabte and the topics to me fall way off of the reasons that I joined the board - the women and models. To each his own, within reason...

How come the mods don't talk between themselves ? He had a deal with Freeones himself to comeback here, NF and Foxy were fine with it, how come you did'nt know that ?

Now, as to the topic of this thread: The fact that we can discuss this thing serves as fact that Freeones and the mods appreciate and respect the freedom of speech. I have to say so that I wouldn't have voiced the same opinion yesterday as I found it inappropriate to just close down all the threads dealing with LisaSparxx and 001. Maybe I, as a simple user and member of this board am not entitled to information on why certain members are ****** and others aren't, but I think I am entitled to not being treated like a *****. There were quite a number of members discussing these incidents and it was obvious that most were looking for an explanation, especially since there actually weren't that many here who really knew 001 previously was LR. So shutting down the discussion was bad style in my eyes.

I understand, on the other hand, that sometimes people in charge see the need to cool down heated arguments spreading like wildfires. The threads that were closed the other day were at least on the verge to becoming war scenes between members. But again, I don't think just making them shut up was the best solution. How about next time something like that happens (which hopefully is not too soon), one of the mods posts a comment to the situation somewhere? That also cools down the atmosphere and it can be done in addition to closing threads that are getting out of hand.

Lastly, I thank "Frasier" QBall for his posts in this thread, they were a pleasure to read as always. In the case of 001, which actually is another topic than the one this thread was created about, I second everything QBall said. I am especially intrigued by the fact that apparently some mods and members knew of his previous identity and others didn't. In that light it appears a little unfair to throw him out like that. In his role as 001 he has been a very valuable, good-spirited and helpful member of this board. How about letting him back on in a couple of days? To me, that seems to be an agreeable solution since obviously some mods had no problems about letting him back on before.

Do you think before you type? How can you call mods like that?
You have guide lines and rules and if you systematically disabide these rules rules or are too much disruptive you know what happens.
If there were no freedom of speech, you wouldn't be entitled to have your opinion.
Back to bigdan's argument, probably fb wasn't informed (all is possible and we will see what fb's reply will be).
I think that some people hardly forget the past and others not, it depends of the individuals.
just my opinion on this subject.

It appears to me what is considered bitching and monaing to Famousbabes, I would be willing to call it ***** of power simply because he is a mod. He feels the "power" to say and do anything he wants byt posting the rules, and the agreement when we sign up. We are not idiots FB, so give us some credit whenit is due. Think of it as a job, when employees are not happy about their work enviornment, would just simply say, oh quit your bitching, and moaning, you signed the papers to work with this company so just deal with it. I think not, unless you have no dignity.

Fine, the rules are there and to be respected. But it is the members that make the board what it is, and I think the members thoughts should count for something.

This is the first time I've ever disagreed with a Mod's posting before - might've disagreed with decisions, but never a post. I'll probably be ****** for this, lol, but got to give my honest opinion.
The last line is totally out of order, and shows a total lack of respect:

Respect:Treat other users how you wish to be treated. Respect others opinions and when there is a disagreement do not take it any further then necessary. Show respect to the board members/admins/newbies and you will receive it back.

I agree UJ, even had other Mod's posting in the 001 threads, and they didn't ban him.
I think it's the inconsistency that people really object to, as different Mod's take different lines.

Just my thoughts anyway.

This thread about free speech... I respect it. But don't take it too far. We are trying to do our jobs here and of course you don't always agree. But most of the time this isn't such a bad place... is it?
