Is Atheism a Religion?

I do not know, but at least atheist are very interested in Christianity which they hate, but they rarely criticize the Islamic faith.

Secular Humanism is a religion.

It's not. But it depends on how you define the terms "atheism" and "religion". Anything can be a religion. For some people football is a religion. These terms can mean different things to different people:dunno:

I got involved in this same discussion in another thread several months ago and nearly was eaten alive by radical militant atheist extremists. They really get pissed if you even suggest that their "belief system" might qualify as a religion. At the end of the day, I really don't give a fuck if it's a religion or not. I'm an agnostic when it comes to atheism I guess. Let people believe what they want....as long as they don't try to harm me or others with it.

But here's the thing, jagger: Assair is a moron. And even if you believe in God quietly and aren't a fundamentalist nut, some precious snowflake asshole will find something to complain about.

Can you show me one message in which you criticize Islamic faith.

Just go through almost any religious thread on the board and you will see her disdain for Islam.

Atheism is not a religion. In the most simple terms religion requires faith without proof where as atheism requires proof. I myself do not believe in any gods because I have seen no proof that there are any. If you really want to delve into what atheism is, I would suggest you go to Youtube and search AronRa. He is a little on the far end but he is very well spoken.

Christians don't tend to put a bomb under your ass in the name of God, when you criticize them. It's that word that those same people wrongly use against anybody who criticizes Islam: islamophobia.

Are you saying that there's no party who wants to put the muslim version of sharia law into effect in the US? Why would the Christian version bother you more than the islamic one, given that you are an atheist? In your second last post you talk about ALL religions, but then you seem to be worried only about Christianity as if Islam wasn't present and proselytizing at all in the US.

Enjoy the one and only attempt to install sharia law in your own country.

To beat or not to beat? Brilliant!

70% of americans are christian. 80% of democrat politicians in office are christian. who exactly are you talking about putting islam into law in the US? I'd like you to cite some examples of this along with FACTUAL evidence of it.

If we talk strictly religion, Islam is the only one between the two that we are talking about which contemplates and promotes the Shariʻah. With 10 millions muslims in American soil and the number growing at warp speed (30 millions estimated in 2030) i would expect you to be a bit worried about Islam too, as an atheist. I mean, let's assume you can defeat Christian proselytism, then you will be faced with Islam. If you don't like any religions you should consider looking a bit beyond your nose, before it's too late. Muslims will not be as tender as Christians, once they are rooted and organized in the territory, believe me. You'll be lucky if you'll be able to still post in this forum if things keep going the way they are going.

The Sixht Commandments say clearly that killing is a sin so a person can not be a Christian if he/she violates this command.

People with Islamic faith are usually Arabs and black people so person who criticizes them is automaticlly either islamophobic or racist.

"Thou Shalt Not Kill"

Atheism is the rejection of ALL religion and ALL beliefs in ANY god of ANY type.

it means "lack of religious belief" so how the FUCK is that a religion?

Have you done any thread which criticize the Islamic faith?

Not to nitpick but this is not exactly the case. Literally, "atheism" is derived from the Latin word "theismus" (meaning the belief in the existence of at least one deity) and the Latin prefix "a" (which means "without"). Therefore, the specific definition of the English word "atheism" means "without the belief in the existence of at least one deity". It makes no direct reference to religion in general.

I make this important point since many people refer to Buddhism as an "atheistic" religion since it neither acknowledges nor denies the existence of a deity or deities (I personally do not believe that necessarily makes it atheistic at all). Although certain Buddhist sects choose to believe in a deity or even multiple deities (especially Nepalese & Tibetan), virtually all modern versions of Buddhism do not recognize the earth or universe as being either created or ruled by any sort of god or gods. The question is simply not an integral one to the central theme of Buddhism.

Damn it....I said I was going to stay out of this discussion!
